The role involves overseeing instrumentation and control systems to ensure adherence to industry standards. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, and 5-7 years of experience. This is a long-term position with a duration of approximately 36 to 40 months that offers an opportunity to impact groundbreaking projects in the power sector.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of proven experience as an I & C Engineer on power projects.
  • Experience in combined-cycle projects is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license highly desirable.

Role Profile – I & C Engineer

This greenfield CCGT project will create a 2,400 MW plant with ancillary equipment and associated infrastructure at a site approximately 50 km north‑east of Abu Dhabi. The Engineer will engage in the full lifecycle of the project, from design and engineering to construction and operation, in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Location: Taweelah, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Duration: Approx 36 to 40 months

Reporting Structure: Project Manager

Overview

The I & C Engineer will oversee instrumentation and control systems in the power project, ensuring design, installation and maintenance meet industry standards, regulations and project specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and oversee all I & C work by EPC contractor and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project specifications, national and international standards (IEC, ISA) and HSE regulations.
  • Review and approve I & C installation and commissioning procedures.
  • Ensure alignment of I & C activities with project objectives and timelines.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, control philosophy reviews and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
  • Review and comment on I & C drawings, instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, I/O lists and control logic documents.
  • Coordinate interface issues with electrical, mechanical and other engineering disciplines.
  • Act as focal point for I & C technical queries and non‑conformance issues.
  • Support pre‑commissioning and commissioning of I & C systems, including loop checks, calibration and signal verifications.
  • Verify compliance of DCS/SCADA systems and integration with plant systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of site activities, inspections, deviations, and resolutions.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports highlighting key risks, issues and achievements.
  • Ensure traceability and compliance with QA/QC standards and support audits, inspections, and punch‑listing for I & C scope.
Safety & HSSE
  • Accept responsibility for own and co‑workers' safety and safety of all personnel at the workplace.
  • Participate in HSSE activities and help implement the ‘Incident and Injury Free’ philosophy.
  • Stop unsafe acts or behaviors and report them to the line supervisor.
  • Use, store and maintain issued PPE correctly.
  • Follow safe work procedures, instructions and permit requirements.
  • Attend toolbox meetings, HSSE meetings and relevant training.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5‑7 years proven experience as an I & C Engineer on power projects.
  • Experience in combined‑cycle projects is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control principles, practices and standards.
  • Proficiency in I & C design software and CAD tools.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
