Role Purpose
To oversee and ensure the implementation of health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards across all project activities.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure compliance with local legal and contract requirements, Project HSE rules and regulations and policies regarding HSE are regularly communicated clearly to all employees.
- Carry out regular daily inspections on the above requirements and monitor high risk activities to ensure full compliance.
- Ensure risk assessments and permits to work system are implemented and followed by all site personnel.
- Monitor and guide workforce and sub-contractors on waste management requirements including segregation at source and reduce reuse and recycling of waste.
- Implement and maintain scaffold tag system.
- Carry out HSE engagements with the workforce on their behalf, recording in the online system.
- Inspect and record condition of all fire equipment, plant, and equipment.
- Provide, with the operations team, safe access, housekeeping, and proper safety signage.
- Enforce the use of PPE and ensure equipment are maintained in good condition.
- Ensure that all established HSE policies are administered and enforced in all areas.
- Report all violations.
- Liaise with sub-contractors HSE officers and engineers in work area ensuring all works are carried out in a safe manner.
- Conduct project HSE induction training and monthly HSE training to workers, including subcontractors based on project scope and risk.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- 4+ years of relevant working experience (preferred in well-established contracting companies in GCC).
- NEBOSH certificate holder.
- Diploma or degree as required by client specs or zoning authority requirements.
- Ability to work in all outside weather and site conditions, including shift work within a manual/workshop environment.
- Knowledge of OHS&E standards, operational hazards and controls, international HSE standards.
- Hands‑on experience of implementing ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 requirements.
- Ability to influence employees for the implementation of HSE tools.
- Ability to accept direction and complete work independently, demonstrating confidence and conviction with the ability to intervene at all times.
- A self‑starter with a high degree of initiative.
