Qualifications

Job Description
Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented HSE Inspector to join our Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for a transportation project entering the Design & Build (D&B) phase. The selected candidate will work under the HSE Manager and be responsible for monitoring the D&B contractor's compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have prior working experience in a Metro Project, with involvement in Tunnel and/or Viaduct construction.

Your role
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Active coordination/involvement expected during the Tunnel Boring Machine launches expected.
  • Monitor and ensure the D&B contractor's compliance with HSE standards, regulations, and project-specific requirements.
  • Review the contractor's HSE plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Assist in incident investigations and ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented including photographs of the incident as required.
  • Prepare and present HSE reports, including statistics, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide HSE guidance and support to the project team, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and conduct HSE training and awareness programs for project personnel and contractors.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained and maintained.
  • Promote a positive HSE culture and ensure continuous improvement in HSE performance.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on HSE matters.
About you
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP) is highly desirable.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE management, with a focus on large infrastructure projects.
  • Focus will be on working experience on tunnel construction involving Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and/or viaduct construction.
  • Proven experience in a PMC environment, acting as a client representative.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience in conducting HSE audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment and management principles.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in the rail, metro or any transit sectors or something similar.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using HSE management software and tools.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to influence and drive a positive HSE culture.
