Job summary

EDGE in Abu Dhabi is seeking a skilled HV Maintenance Engineer to operate, maintain, inspect, and repair high voltage electrical systems (11kV–33kV). You will conduct routine and emergency maintenance, perform high voltage testing, monitor power quality, and participate in annual overhaul programs.

The ideal candidate has a technical degree in electrical engineering, at least 2 years HV experience, UAE HV certification, and familiarity with IEC standards, SCADA, and protective relays.

Qualifications

• Diploma, Higher Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in high voltage electrical systems maintenance in industrial, utility, or defense environments.
• Valid UAE High Voltage Authorization Certificate or equivalent HV certification.
• Strong knowledge of IEC standards related to HV switchgear, protection systems, and transformers.
• Experience with SCADA and energy management systems.
• Proficiency in the use of high voltage testing instruments and diagnostic equipment.
• Sound understanding of UAE DEWA regulations and electrical permit systems.
• Experience with protection relay testing (Siemens, ABB, GE, or equivalent brands).
• Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and protection coordination studies.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, inspect, and repair HV electrical systems (11kV–33kV).
• Conduct routine and emergency HV maintenance on cables, busbars, isolators, and protection relays.
• Perform HV testing (insulation resistance, hi-pot, power factor).
• Monitor power quality: voltage, current, frequency, harmonics.
• Respond to HV faults with safe isolation procedures.
• Adhere to LOTO procedures and permit-to-work systems.
• Coordinate with UAE utilities for grid connections and shutdowns.
• Maintain and calibrate protection relay settings per designs.
• Perform thermographic scans and predictive maintenance surveys.
• Document maintenance, test results and defects in CMMS.
• Participate in annual HV equipment overhaul programs and shutdowns.
• Mentor and supervise LV technicians during HV works.
• Ensure compliance with UAE OSHA, IEC, and ALTAIF HSE policies.
