Job description
Overview

The Health & Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies to ensure a safe working environment in compliance with UAE laws, local authority regulations, and international HSE standards.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and monitor company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE HSE regulations, Civil Defense requirements, and local authority standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
  • Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce safety rules across the site.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports and corrective action plans.
  • Conduct HSE induction, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions.
  • Maintain HSE records, permits, incident logs, and safety documentation.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and HR teams on safety initiatives.
  • Liaise with external authorities, auditors, and emergency services when required.
  • Monitor waste management, chemical handling, and environmental controls.
  • Support emergency preparedness plans, drills, and fire safety procedures.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement in HSE performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • NEBOSH IGC (mandatory or highly preferred in UAE).
  • Additional certifications such as IOSH, OSHA, or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor are an advantage.
  • Knowledge of UAE Labor Law, Civil Defense, and local municipality HSE regulations.
Experience
  • 2–5 years of experience as an HSE Officer in the UAE.
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, logistics, or industrial environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
