Overview
The Health & Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies to ensure a safe working environment in compliance with UAE laws, local authority regulations, and international HSE standards.
Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with UAE HSE regulations, Civil Defense requirements, and local authority standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce safety rules across the site.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports and corrective action plans.
- Conduct HSE induction, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions.
- Maintain HSE records, permits, incident logs, and safety documentation.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and HR teams on safety initiatives.
- Liaise with external authorities, auditors, and emergency services when required.
- Monitor waste management, chemical handling, and environmental controls.
- Support emergency preparedness plans, drills, and fire safety procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement in HSE performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- NEBOSH IGC (mandatory or highly preferred in UAE).
- Additional certifications such as IOSH, OSHA, or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor are an advantage.
- Knowledge of UAE Labor Law, Civil Defense, and local municipality HSE regulations.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience as an HSE Officer in the UAE.
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, logistics, or industrial environments preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
