Discovered MENA in Dubai is seeking a Head of Technology to lead Applied Robotics programs. You will steer five technical teams—autonomy, human-robot interaction, mechatronics, mobile manipulation and mechanical design—aligning roadmaps with end‑to‑end delivery in live environments.

You should have a PhD or Master’s by research in robotics or related fields, 10–15 years’ experience outside academia, and a track record of deploying robotic systems.

Up to AED 65,000 per month, tax free (around $210,000 net)

Five technical teams, one technical authority

Most robotics research never leaves the building.

Brilliant work gets done, papers get published, demos get filmed, and then it sits there. The hard part was never the research. It is getting five deep specialisms to talk to each other and turning the output into something that runs reliably in the real world, in 45 degree heat, in front of actual users.

We've partnered with a well‑funded applied robotics centre in Dubai that is past that point, with systems running in live operational environments rather than on a test track.

They need a Head of Technology to sit between the lab Director and the technical organisation.

You’ll own:

• Five technical teams: autonomy, human‑robot interaction, mechatronics, mobile manipulation and mechanical design
• Their technology roadmaps, and making sure the work actually converges
• Coordinating the Principal Investigators and killing the silos between them
• Real metrics on how projects execute, not just what gets published
• Being the bridge between the centre and its university partners

This is not a management role with a robotics badge on it.

You’ll be in the architecture reviews and the integration problems. Five PhD‑level team leads have to accept your technical judgement, and they will work out very quickly whether you have earned it.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has a PhD or Master’s by research in robotics, autonomous systems or mechatronics
• Has 10 to 15 years, predominantly outside academia
• Has built robotic systems that were commercialised or deployed for real, not simulated or demoed
• Goes broad across robotics rather than deep in one lane. Not purely software, not purely mechanical
• Has run R&D programmes with real budgets, timelines and technical risk

The teams already exist and already work. You are not building from nothing, you are making it all add up.

Turnover there is close to zero, which in this region tells you something.
