Apt Resources | Recruitment Specialists is seeking an experienced Head of Supply Chain to oversee end-to-end supply chain and logistics for a client in Senegal. The role requires developing strategies, managing procurement, logistics, inventory, and supplier relationships to ensure efficient material movement.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering background with 20+ years in supply chain and logistics within heavy industrial sectors, excellent leadership, and ERP skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical or related) is required.
• 20+ years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, or related functions.
• Extensive experience in mining, fertilizer, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors.
• Proven track record managing end-to-end supply chain and logistics in complex industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of international logistics, freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
• Experience coordinating international suppliers and cross-border shipments.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain strategies aligned with operational and business objectives.
• Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement coordination, logistics, transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
• Manage movement of raw materials, industrial equipment, spare parts, and operational supplies for timely delivery.
• Coordinate with procurement, operations, production, maintenance, and project teams to identify supply requirements and avoid disruptions.
• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, freight forwarders, and other partners.
• Oversee local and international logistics, including import/export, customs clearance, and cross-border transportation.
• Develop and monitor supply chain budgets, logistics costs, inventory levels, and KPIs.
• Identify opportunities to optimize costs and improve operational efficiency.
• Implement effective inventory control systems and ensure availability of critical materials and equipment.
• Assess supply chain risks and develop contingency plans for disruptions, delays, or shortages.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, customs requirements, and health and safety standards.
• Lead, develop, and supervise supply chain and logistics teams.
• Prepare regular reports on supply chain performance, costs, and improvement initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and support business growth.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in the mining, fertilizer, petrochemical, or other heavy industrial sectors.
• Proven track record managing end-to-end supply chain and logistics operations in complex industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of international logistics, freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
• Experience managing the supply of industrial equipment, raw materials, spare parts, and operational consumables.
• Strong expertise in supplier management, supply chain planning, cost control, and process optimization.
• Experience managing international suppliers, cross-border shipments, and logistics operations is highly preferred.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and supply chain management software.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to work in a demanding industrial environment and manage multiple operational priorities.
• Willingness to be based in Senegal.
