Job summary

GEMS Royal Dubai School in Dubai is seeking an inspirational Head of Primary to lead the Foundation Stage and Primary School from FS1 to Year 6, reporting to the Principal. The role focuses on strategic leadership, teaching standards, student progress and staff development.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Education (or equivalent with PGCE/PGDE), an NPQSL or equivalent, and extensive leadership experience in reputable British or international schools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education or equivalent with PGCE/PGDE or similar
• NPQSL or equivalent leadership qualification
• Significant Primary leadership experience in established British or international schools

Responsibilities

• Lead the Primary phase with high standards in teaching, wellbeing and achievement
• Develop and lead curriculum development in line with English National Curriculum, PYP and ADEK
• Monitor progress and attainment to drive improvements
• Coach and develop Primary leaders and teachers through mentoring and professional development
• Oversee transitions FS1–Year 6 to Secondary and admissions processes
• Foster inclusive, positive learning environments and strong parental relationships
• Collaborate with Principal and senior teams on school improvement priorities
• Ensure safeguarding and compliance with school policies and regulatory requirements
