Job summary

Aldar Academies in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Art teacher to deliver the UK National Curriculum across an international school setting. You will plan lessons to drive outstanding progression and foster a culture of curiosity and creativity among students.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor degree with PGCE and has strong experience in teaching Art within the English National Curriculum, including support for students for whom English is not a first language.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree and PGCE Education are required.
• Teaching experience at UK secondary level is essential.
• Experience in an international school is an advantage.
• Minimum of 6 years teaching Art.
• Strong experience teaching English National Curriculum.
• Experience with students for whom English is not their first language.
• Knowledge of UAE Ministry of Education and ADEK regulations.

Main Duties

• Assist academy in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions and to contribute to the achievement of relevant targets as set out in the academy’s improvement plan and self-evaluation form
• Comply with regulations pertaining to health and safety at work legislation and adhere to academy policies relating to safe working practice and equal opportunities regulations
• Comply with the academy’s Performance Management Policy ensuring challenging annual targets are set and to fulfil the role of performance management reviewer if directed to do so by the Principal
• Engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding and health and safety together with all training deemed appropriate for the purpose of academy improvement or performance management
• Comply with the academy’s staff dress code at all times including the wearing of photo ID / lanyard
• Comply with the academy’s computer Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) at all times
• Attend all staff briefings
• Sign out and sign in at relevant academy reception if off site at any point during the normal working day

Specific Duties

Teach allocated students by planning their teaching to achieve outstanding progression of learning through:

• Creating a climate that is conducive for outstanding Learning and Teaching
• Identifying clear learning objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessed
• Setting tasks which challenge students and ensure high levels of interest
• Setting appropriate and demanding expectations
• Setting clear targets, building on prior attainment

Minimum Qualifications

- Minimum of a Bachelor degree and certification in PGCE Education.

- Teaching experience at UK secondary level is essential, experience in an international school is an advantage.

Minimum Experience

- Minimum of 6 years experience in teaching Art

- Strong experience teaching English National Curriculum.

- Previous experience working with students whom English is not their first language
