Overview

Head - eTrading Technology is a senior banking opportunity focused on leading global electronic trading technology strategy, platform development, low‑latency trading systems, and digital execution capability across global markets. This role requires an experienced technology leader with deep eTrading knowledge, strong FX markets exposure, advanced understanding of APIs and connectivity protocols, and the ability to deliver scalable, resilient and regulation‑aligned trading platforms for a major banking environment.

Role Context

The Head - eTrading Technology will define and execute the bank’s electronic trading technology roadmap for global markets, with strong emphasis on FX trading platforms, pricing engines, APIs, algorithmic trading capabilities, and client execution experience. The role connects business strategy with technology delivery by working closely with trading desks, sales teams, technology units, vendors, product teams and senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Define and execute the global eTrading technology strategy in alignment with investment banking and global markets business objectives.
Drive innovation across electronic trading platforms to improve execution quality, client experience, scalability, and market responsiveness.
Oversee the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of high‑performance and low‑latency trading systems.
Ensure electronic trading platforms remain resilient, secure, scalable and compliant with internal governance and regulatory requirements.
Lead platform initiatives covering multi‑dealer platforms, single‑dealer platforms, APIs, pricing engines, connectivity layers and trading workflow tools.
Monitor and optimise electronic trading flows to improve execution efficiency, system performance, operational stability and client service quality.
Work closely with trading desks, sales teams, product owners, technology teams, support specialists and vendors to deliver integrated eTrading solutions.
Act as the primary technology contact for senior stakeholders on electronic trading initiatives, transformation plans, production stability and delivery progress.
Implement robust technology risk controls across electronic trading platforms and ensure adherence to governance frameworks.
Support system enhancement planning for algorithmic trading strategies, market connectivity, pricing tools and trading automation.
Lead large‑scale eTrading platform implementation initiatives from strategy and design through delivery, testing, deployment and ongoing support.
Review technical architecture, platform capabilities, system dependencies, vendor solutions and technology risks before major changes are approved.
Promote automation, process improvement and platform modernisation to improve efficiency and reduce operational friction.
Lead and mentor a team of developers, product managers, support specialists and technology professionals.
Build a culture of collaboration, innovation, ownership, continuous improvement and disciplined delivery across the technology team.
Manage stakeholder expectations under time‑sensitive trading conditions and ensure delivery priorities are aligned with business value.
Work with technology risk, operations, compliance and governance teams to ensure trading systems meet bank standards and control requirements.
Support business continuity, incident response, production stability review and post‑implementation improvement for critical trading platforms.

Ideal Profile

Postgraduate degree or professional qualification in Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in electronic trading technology, preferably within a bank, financial institution, fintech, or IT company supporting capital markets.
Deep knowledge of Global Markets technology, with FX electronic trading experience considered essential.
Proven track record in leading and implementing large‑scale eTrading platform initiatives.
Strong understanding of financial markets, trading workflows, banking systems and global markets technology architecture.
Practical knowledge of connectivity protocols, APIs, low‑latency trading systems, pricing engines and electronic execution platforms.
Familiarity with algorithmic trading strategies, market data flows, trading controls and execution performance requirements.
Technically astute leader with relevant exposure to bank systems, technology processes, risk controls and regulated platform delivery.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage trading desks, sales teams, technology leadership, vendors and senior management.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving ability with strong numerical skills and attention to trading performance details.
Ability to work under pressure, manage tight deadlines and make sound decisions in a fast‑moving trading environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technology matters into clear business and risk language.
