Job Summary
The General Manager, Strategic Procurement, will lead the procurement function, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials, services, and equipment necessary for the company’s construction projects. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, extensive experience in procurement, and a deep understanding of the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Conduct market analysis to stay informed about industry trends and supplier capabilities.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure favorable outcomes for the company.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies.
- Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
- Oversee the procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage the procurement budget and track expenditures.
- Implement and maintain procurement software and systems for efficiency and transparency.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and timelines.
- Coordinate with finance and legal departments to ensure alignment on procurement activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Master is Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 14-16 years of experience, with at least 8-10 years in Strategic Procurement and in a leadership role within the construction industry.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and systems.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
