Job summary

Meridian Compass fzco in Dubai seeks an experienced Purchaser to handle all procurement for VLCCs: spares, stores, provisions, lubricants and services. You will source, compare, raise POs, track lead times and ensure on-time delivery within budget.

The role requires 3+ years in ship management or ship supply, strong Excel and ERP experience, and excellent English communication to coordinate across time zones and partners worldwide.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Purchaser in a ship management or ship supply company.
• Good knowledge of marine spares, stores, IMPA codes and ship supply logistics.
• Experience with procurement/ERP systems (ShipNet, Danaos, AMOS, BASS, ShipServ or similar).
• Strong Excel skills and ability to manage multiple urgent orders at once.
• Good negotiation and communication skills in English.
• Organised, accurate and comfortable working to tight deadlines across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Process requisitions from the vessel for spares, stores, chemicals, paints, lubes, charts and publications.
• Source and compare quotations using IMPA/ISSA codes and platforms like ShipServ.
• Raise purchase orders and follow up on lead times and delivery.
• Arrange logistics to the vessel: forwarders and customs clearance at ports worldwide.
• Coordinate urgent spares with Technical Superintendent to avoid off-hire.
• Negotiate prices and set up framework agreements with vendors.
• Monitor budget spend and flag overruns early.
• Match invoices to POs and delivery notes for payment.
• Maintain procurement records and spares inventory onboard.
• Screen suppliers for sanctions compliance per policy.
