Job summary

NMC Healthcare in the United Arab Emirates seeks a General Practitioner for the Emergency Department. You will perform professional duties per privileges, provide on-call coverage, and contribute to high-quality emergency care within an integrated hospital setting.

Requirements include a medical degree, internship, 3 years GP experience, DHA license in Dubai, ACLS/ATLS, and excellent English. Arabic language is desirable.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved Medical School with internship and residency.

Responsibilities

• Assess and re-assess all ER patients to determine urgent treatment.
• Provide rapid treatment and assign the appropriate consultant when required.
• Render immediate care in emergency and document diagnoses and treatment.
• Maintain medical records with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Provide health counseling and participate in rounds and meetings.
• Offer on-call coverage and shift-based duty rosters.
• Pursue continuing medical education and contribute to service development.

Provides emergency medical services to patients, through current best-evidence based standards, using best judgement at all times, and in accordance with the Hospital Medical Staff Rules and Regulations. Directs preventive care of patients according to approved procedures which are part of an integrated program of curative and preventive services under supervision of specialist. Serves as a general practitioner in the ICU department, monitoring and treats patients for diseases and disabilities.

Responsibilities:

To perform the professional duties of a General Practitioner in the Emergency Department in accordance with the delineation of privileges as recommended by the credential committee.

EMERGENCY SERVICES

1. To conduct assessment & re-assessment for all patients in the ER.
2. Determines which cases constitute a required urgent treatment and extends rapid treatment to the patient as needed, facilitate quick decisions, and chooses the correct consultant for necessary additional guidance.
3. Upon request and examines In Emergency, rendering immediate judgement and treatment if necessary.
4. Completes all medical records and case histories promptly, indicating thereon the diagnosis and treatment given. Is responsible for the medical accuracy, completeness and confidential nature of patients' medical records.
5. Provides health counseling of patients as needed.
6. Attends professional and hospital meetings as directed by the HOD. Occasionally prepares cases for presentation at ward rounds and staff meetings.
7. Provides on call emergency coverage.
8. Participates equitably in the duty roster on a shift basis.
9. Demonstrates commitment to continuing medical education.
10. Participates in review and planning activities relevant to the development of the emergency service and the hospital.
11. Fulfill professional requirements for continuing maintenance of competence in all aspects of emergency medicine.
12. Carries out other assigned duties within the appropriate scope of knowledge, skills and abilities of the position.

Qualifications:

1. Graduation from an approved Medical School , 1 year of Internship, 2 years residency training in a recognized residency training program.
2. 3 years of experience as a General Practitioner.
3. Must have a thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
4. Current licensure in country of origin and with DHA license to practice in Dubai, UAE.
5. Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
6. ACLS or ATLS certified.
7. Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
