Experience: Minimum 5 years’ fuel oil trading experience

Team Size: 8 total staff globally (with presence in Geneva and London)

We are seeking an experienced Fuel Oil Trader to join a growing, agile trading platform based in DMCC, Dubai. This is a pure paper trading role with full focus on market risk, pricing, and P&L generation rather than physical logistics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for trading fuel oil products across relevant benchmarks and structures, contributing directly to the firm’s proprietary trading performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively trade fuel oil derivatives and paper instruments (swaps, futures, options, spreads, cracks, time spreads, arb structures).
  • Develop and execute profitable trading strategies based on market fundamentals, technical analysis, and relative value opportunities.
  • Manage risk within agreed limits, ensuring disciplined position sizing and drawdown control.
  • Monitor global fuel oil markets, including refinery activity, shipping flows, inventory data, and macro drivers.
  • Work closely with senior management and global colleagues in Geneva and London on market views, positioning, and strategy.
  • Maintain accurate trade capture, P&L reporting, and risk metrics.
  • Continuously refine trading strategies and adapt to changing market conditions.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of proven fuel oil trading experience, ideally in a paper/derivatives-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of consistent P&L generation.
  • Strong understanding of fuel oil benchmarks, spreads, and volatility dynamics.
  • Experience trading on major exchanges and OTC markets.
  • Strong risk management mindset with the ability to operate independently.
  • Comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial trading setup.
  • Strong analytical skills and market intuition.
Preferred Profile
  • Experience trading at a trading house, oil major, hedge fund, or bank.
  • Familiarity with related products (crude, distillates) is a plus.
  • Existing market relationships with brokers and counterparties is advantageous.
What’s on Offer
  • Pure paper trading seat with no operational or physical constraints.
  • Competitive compensation structure aligned with performance.
  • Opportunity to be part of a small, high-impact trading team.
  • Direct exposure to decision-makers and capital allocation.
  • Based in DMCC, Dubai, with interaction across global hubs.
