Job summary

Abu Dhabi Airports is seeking a Lead for Fire & Life Safety (FLS) Engineering and Design Management to oversee capital projects and operational enhancements. You will act as the technical authority for FLS design and AHJ compliance through all phases from concept to handover.

You will review drawings, coordinate with architects and construction teams, conduct site visits, and manage budgets while providing executive-level reporting on compliance and project risks.

Qualifications

• Experience in fire protection design and life safety systems (e.g., fire alarms, sprinklers, suppression, smoke control)
• Knowledge of local and international fire codes, standards, and AHJ requirements
• Coordination with regulators and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) for permits and approvals

Responsibilities

• Lead FLS engineering and design management for capital projects and enhancement programs.
• Review fire protection systems, including alarms, sprinklers, suppression, smoke control, and emergency lighting calculations.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to integrate fire protection systems into designs.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing fire protection systems and identify deficiencies.
• Coordinate with AHJ and regulatory agencies for permits and approvals.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams, consultants, and contractors on design, installation, and testing.
• Review and approve external fire protection designs for compliance with project requirements.
• Manage budget for fire safety engineering activities and procurement.
• Develop and enforce ADA Fire & Life Safety design standards and governance frameworks.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, and handover of systems to operations.
• Provide executive reporting on compliance, risks, and project status.
