Job summary

A prominent educational institution in the UAE is seeking an Assistant Professor in Arabic Studies to join the Department of Arabic and Translation Studies. The successful candidate will teach entry-level Arabic heritage classes and courses on the UAE's history and culture. Position Overview

Position in Arabic Studies: The Department of Arabic and Translation Studies at American University of Sharjah invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2026, subject to budgetary approval.

Core Responsibilities: Teach entry‑level Arabic heritage classes, offer courses on the history, culture and society of the United Arab Emirates, integrate new technologies in teaching and research, and participate in course and program design/development.

Qualifications

Education: PhD in Arabic Studies, Arabic Literature or allied areas.

Teaching: Proven ability to teach at the undergraduate level in Arabic and/or English, with a strong scholarly record or potential.

Native or near‑native proficiency in Arabic and English. Preference for candidates who can teach in both languages.

Familiarity with western models of higher education is preferred.
