Facilities Manager - School Services in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates is a Primary-Secondary Education opportunity for an experienced facilities and operations professional who can manage school maintenance, general services, contractor performance, health and safety, procurement support, accommodation coordination, and site readiness. This role supports Abdulla Bin Otaiba Charter School by ensuring that buildings, grounds, services, resources, and support teams operate safely, efficiently, and in line with Aldar Education standards. The successful candidate will bring strong supervision, service culture, budget awareness, compliance focus,and practical problem‑solving ability to maintain a high‑quality school environment for students,staff, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of facilities and general services across the school while promoting a reliable and responsive service culture.
  • Ensure staff, contractors, resources, and service teams are deployed efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain school facilities to high standards of cleanliness, maintenance, safety, security, and operational readiness.
  • Oversee support service teams to ensure they work effectively, meet expectations, and deliver value to the school community.
  • Inspect required repairs and maintenance needs, coordinate approved work, and follow up until completion is satisfactory.
  • Appoint or coordinate external service providers in line with Aldar Education HQ guidance and the procurement framework.
  • Monitor contractor work against agreed scope and ensure deficiencies are corrected without delay.
  • Ensure the school site, buildings, and grounds remain secure, safe, and operational at all times.
  • Coordinate daily site checks for vandalism, cleanliness, safety issues, building concerns, and service quality.
  • Implement policies, systems, operational processes, and safeguarding measures issued by Aldar Education HQ.
  • Plan and resource school events, activities, and operational requirements in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Ensure catering, security, maintenance, cleaning, transport, waste disposal, and recycling services are properly planned and managed throughout the year.
  • Act as the key contact point for external service management related to facilities and general operations.
  • Support the Operations and Support Services Manager in space planning, building utilization, and reorganization of premises when required.
  • Ensure daily monitoring of BMS and BMS alert systems is carried out where installed.
  • Support staff accommodation arrangements in line with Aldar Education standards, housing policy, allowances, and school expectations.
  • Act as the designated school Incident Commander and remain contactable outside normal school hours when required.
  • Attend site during critical incidents in line with Aldar Education Critical Incident Response Protocols.
  • Manage facilities and general services teams to maintain high service standards across the school.
  • Ensure external support service teams are fully resourced and meeting contractual obligations.
  • Support professional development, appraisal, training, and individual development plans for facilities and general services staff.
  • Oversee relevant facilities budgets and expenditure while ensuring best value and service quality.
  • Support shared resource, cost, transport, support staff, and service opportunities across partner schools.
  • Ensure purchasing policy and Delegation of Authority procedures are followed at all times.
  • Monitor compliance with local government authority regulations to reduce risk of fines, contract lapses, or service interruptions.
  • Ensure internal and external audit actions are completed accurately, appropriately, and within required timelines.
  • Promote a positive and proactive health and safety culture across internal teams, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure the school complies with current health and safety legislation and Aldar Education HQ guidance.
  • Review and monitor contractor and supplier health and safety performance at school level.
  • Support environmental aims and objectives, ensuring actions are delivered within agreed timelines.
  • Ensure internal and external health, safety, and environmental audits are completed and followed up properly.
Ideal Profile
  • Minimum diploma, degree of higher education, or related graduate‑level industry qualification for the assigned functional area.
  • Certificate in Facilities Management, NEBOSH, or IOSH is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a mid‑level position within an education, facilities, operations, or service‑oriented industry.
  • Strong understanding of facilities management, school site operations, maintenance coordination, contractor management, and general services.
  • Practical knowledge of health and safety requirements, local government compliance, audit actions, and service contract monitoring.
  • Able to supervise facilities teams, cleaning teams, maintenance staff, security providers, transport support, and external contractors.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • High attention to detail with diligent follow‑up and the ability to execute tasks within required timelines.
  • Skilled in multitasking, handling pressure, and responding calmly to operational priorities.
  • Strong organizational ability for self and others, especially across maintenance schedules, service requests, events, audits, and daily site checks.
  • Able to plan ahead for local government compliance matters, contract renewals, inspections, and facilities needs.
  • Capable of influencing people and building relationships with cultural sensitivity.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work with school leaders, staff, suppliers, contractors, and HQ teams.
  • Strong and consistent supervisory skills with a practical approach to team performance.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to support cost control, procurement compliance, and best‑value service decisions.
  • Willing to provide additional effort and availability when school operations, emergencies, or service requirements demand it.
