Job Brief

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Export Sales Manager to spearhead the growth and management of electrical cabling product sales across African markets. The role is responsible for overseeing and significantly expanding export sales volumes, developing new business opportunities, and managing the complete export sales cycle—from inquiry through delivery and after-sales support. This position plays a critical role in supporting international market expansion objectives, particularly across key African regions.

Responsibilities

Market Development & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive export sales strategy tailored to key African regions, including East, West, and Southern Africa.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new market opportunities, potential customers, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to stay informed on local cabling standards, competitor activities, certifications, tariffs, and regulatory requirements.

Sales & Business Development:

  • Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with distributors, contractors, utility companies, industrial clients, and key stakeholders.
  • Achieve and exceed assigned sales targets by managing the entire sales pipeline, including prospecting, negotiation, and deal closure.
  • Prepare and present technical proposals, quotations, and tender submissions in a timely and professional manner.

Export Operations & Logistics:

  • Oversee the complete export process, including preparation of export documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and Certificates of Origin.
  • Manage shipping logistics and customs clearance procedures across African territories.
  • Ensure full compliance with international trade regulations, Incoterms (FOB, CIF, DDP, etc.), and local customs laws.
  • Coordinate closely with production, finance, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Reporting & Management:

  • Provide regular sales forecasts, progress reports, and market intelligence updates to senior management.
  • Manage and control sales budgets for assigned African markets, ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Represent the organization at international trade shows, conferences, exhibitions, and networking events.
Job Requirements
  • 5–8 years of progressively responsible experience in international business development or export sales within the electrical cable and wire manufacturing industry.
  • Proven track record of developing sales channels, achieving targets, and closing complex deals across African markets.
  • Strong expertise in export logistics, including international shipping, export documentation, customs procedures, and Incoterms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Marketing.
  • Proven experience in the cable manufacturing industry is mandatory.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of cable usage, specifications, and application requirements.
  • Strong understanding of external market dynamics and African regional market information.
  • Minimum 8 years of successful experience in the cables industry, including at least 4 years in a sales management role.
  • Industry Background: Electrical / Cables / Contracting industries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (mandatory).
  • Proficiency in French is a strong advantage.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake frequent international travel across African markets.
  • High time flexibility to manage international sales cycles.
