WSP in the Middle East is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern (Mechanical & Electrical background) to join our Vertical Transportation (VT) team within the Property & Buildings business.

Vertical Transportation is one of our specialist disciplines, providing expert solutions for elevators, escalators, and moving walks to enhance building efficiency and ensure smooth, seamless people flow.

This internship offers an excellent opportunity for engineering students or recent graduates to gain hands‑on experience in the design and technical aspects of Vertical Transportation systems across major projects in the region. The program supports both technical and professional development, giving interns exposure to real‑world engineering challenges and the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. You will benefit from structured mentorship, networking opportunities, and learning experiences designed to strengthen your future career prospects.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing design layouts, technical drawings, and documentation related to elevator and escalator systems.
  • Support engineers in reviewing specifications, calculations, and technical submissions.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings and contribute to technical presentations.
  • Conduct research on international codes, emerging technologies, and sustainability aspects of vertical transportation.
  • Assist in preparing project reports, schedules, and progress updates.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (MEP, Structural, and Architectural) to ensure design integration.
  • Learn and apply WSP’s quality, safety, and sustainability standards in all assigned work.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree/BTech in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, Architecture, or a technical discipline.
  • Completed at least one year of undergraduate study or recently graduated and planning to pursue postgraduate studies.
  • Strong interest in Vertical Transportation systems, building services, or building technology.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior coursework or academic exposure to mechanical systems, control systems, or building services.
  • Basic understanding of engineering design principles and relevant industry standards used in the built environment.
