Job description

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Engineer - Geotechnical to join our team in Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates. As a key member of our engineering department you will play a crucial role in designing and overseeing geotechnical aspects of various construction projects in the region.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and supervise geotechnical site investigations including soil and rock borings, test pits, and geophysical testing
• Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
• Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
• Propose approach to solve new problems encountered
• Identify discrepancies in results
• Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision
• Analyze field and laboratory data to develop geotechnical design parameters
• Design foundations, earth retaining structures and ground improvement solutions for a wide range of projects
• Utilize advanced geotechnical software to perform complex analyses and modeling
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, work plans and engineering recommendations
• Review design plans and specifications for compliance with geotechnical recommendations
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated engineering solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (Masters degree preferred)
• Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in geotechnical engineering with a preference for local project experience
• Strong understanding of geotechnical design principles, soil mechanics and foundation engineering
• Familiarity with UAE building codes, regulations and local geology in Abu Dhabi
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
• Proven ability to manage projects including scope, schedule and budget
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
• Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
• Innovative approach to tackling complex geotechnical challenges
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of geotechnical engineering
