Job description
Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior ELV Design Engineer to lead the design, coordination, installation oversight, and commissioning of all ELV systems for large-scale, high-complexity projects across the UAE.

This includes systems such as fire alarm, telecom, ICT, access control, CCTV, BMS, lighting control, structured cabling, data centers, AI-enabled technologies, audio-visual, control rooms, servers, redundancy and service availability, clock systems, IPTV, and other ELV solutions.

The role requires hands-on experience with UAE authority requirements, multi-discipline coordination, value engineering, and leading technical teams to ensure full system functionality, reliability, and compliance with international standards. Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

Responsibilities
  • Design & Engineering
    • Lead detailed design of all ELV systems in compliance with UAE authority regulations (DM, DEWA, ADDC, Civil Defence, Etisalat, du, MCC, SIRA, etc.) and international standards (NFPA, ISO, IEC, BICSI, ASHRAE for controls).
    • Prepare schematics, layouts, single-line diagrams, interconnection diagrams, point schedules, and rack layouts for all ELV systems.
    • Develop design packages for mission-critical systems such as data centers, control rooms, server rooms, and AI-integrated infrastructure.
    • Supervise and mentor junior engineers in producing shop drawings, cable schedules, and integration diagrams.
    • Conduct design reviews, value engineering exercises, and constructability assessments to optimize system performance, redundancy, and operational efficiency.
    • Integrate BMS, lighting control, access control, fire alarm, ICT, CCTV, and AV systems into a fully coordinated design with other MEP disciplines.
    • Ensure LEED/Estidama compliance and incorporate energy efficiency, sustainability, and redundancy strategies in the ELV design.
  • Coordination
    • Conduct multi-discipline coordination sessions (BIM/3D modeling) to avoid clashes with MEP, civil, architectural, and structural works.
    • Coordinate ELV systems with external consultants, subcontractors, and authorities for approvals, clarifications, and NOCs.
    • Verify integration of critical systems (data center racks, control rooms, redundant power, HVAC monitoring via BMS, telecom & ICT networks).
    • Ensure alignment of ELV design with project phasing, commissioning schedules, and operational readiness plans.
  • Installation Oversight & Technical Office Support
    • Provide on-site technical support during installation to ensure compliance with design intent, project specifications, and UAE regulations.
    • Supervise and approve subcontractor installation methodologies, cable routing, termination, and device mounting for all ELV systems.
    • Develop and maintain tracking systems for ELV deliverables, submittals, approvals, and testing documentation.
    • Review and approve subcontractor shop drawings, material submittals, and equipment datasheets.
    • Conduct installation inspections and quality checks, ensuring adherence to project standards, safety, and functionality.
    • Prepare project presentations, technical memos, and reports to communicate system scope, integration strategy, and execution plans.
  • Testing & Commissioning (T&C)
    • Plan and supervise pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for all ELV systems, including integrated BMS and lighting control sequences.
    • Perform functional testing, loop checks, continuity tests, and signal verification for fire alarm, access control, CCTV, ICT, structured cabling, and AV systems.
    • Validate redundancy, failover, backup power systems, and service availability for data centers, control rooms, and mission-critical systems.
    • Verify system integration, including BMS-based monitoring, CCTV/AV control, access control interlocks, and clock/IPTV synchronization.
    • Review and ensure preparation of commissioning reports, punch lists, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover packages.
    • Provide training for operations teams and clients on system usage, monitoring, and maintenance procedures.
  • Procurement & Vendor Support
    • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain material submittals, technical datasheets, and certifications for all ELV equipment.
    • Issue RFQs/RFPs and perform technical evaluation of quotations with compliance statements and recommendations.
    • Support procurement in material selection and sourcing in line with project specifications, sustainability, and redundancy requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5–8 years of comprehensive ELV design, coordination, installation, and commissioning experience in UAE mega projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of ELV systems: fire alarm, access control, CCTV, BMS, lighting control, structured cabling, ICT, data centers, AI technologies, AV systems, control rooms, servers, redundancy, IPTV, clock systems, and other ELV technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with mission-critical and high-availability systems, including redundant networks, server rooms, and control centers.
  • Strong understanding of UAE authority requirements, NFPA, ISO, IEC, BICSI, LEED, Estidama, and other sustainability standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM coordination software, and ELV-specific design tools.
  • Ability to develop tracking systems, QA/QC checklists, and commissioning protocols.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
  • Self-driven and capable of working independently, managing multiple ELV deliverables, and leading junior engineers and subcontractors.
