Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Dubai seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to oversee the design of electrical substations and package substations. The ideal candidate should possess deep knowledge of power system studies, relay settings, and electrical calculations, and be proficient with relevant software tools. They will coordinate with clients, consultants, and commissioning teams to ensure project approvals and compliance with international standards. A valid UAE driving license is required for this position.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of design of Electrical Substations and Package Substations.
• Experience with international standards (IEEE, IEC, ESE, NFPA).
• Valid UAE driving license is required.

Responsibilities

• Handle Engineering and Design for Substation projects.
• Follow-up with Consultant and Client for approvals.

About the job Electrical Design Engineer _ OHL

Should have good knowledge of design of Electrical Substations, Package Substations, Electrical equipment, cables, Execution, Design Submissions. (ADDC, AADC, FEWA, TRANSCO) projects and specialized in Power system studies (load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, grounding study, motor starting studies), Protection system design, Relay setting calculations for main and backup protection relays, Electrical drawings, Electrical calculations and Review engineering documents for specification/standard compliance.

Required to have the capability to handle the Engineering / Design for Substation / Package substation projects / Electrical submission and follow-up with Consultant and Client for approvals with the working knowledge of international standards (IEEE, IEC, ESE, NFPA, etc.)

Required / Preferable Software skill

• ASPEN one Liner software for relay setting Study,
• Required good experience on the following scope of work / area for Detail Design and Engineering.
• SLD, Equipment layouts, Earthing Layout, Lighting layout, Power socket layout, Cable routing layout, Lightning protection layout)
• Protection relay setting calculations for Main and backup relays in ASPEN one Liner and ETAP
• Electrical design calculations (i.e., Earthing calculation, Battery sizing, Cable Sizing, Lighting Calculation, CT Adequacy calculations)
• Load flow studies as part of network planning studies.
• Network diagrams for 33kV/11kV Networks.
• Developed protection design and performing relay setting calculations for Differential, Distance, OC/EF protection schemes.
• Electrical Layout for Cable routing / Cable Trays / Control Cables, Lighting, Small Power, LVAC, Outdoor lighting.
• Protection Modification schematic drawings for downstream and upstream feeders.
• Short circuit and protection coordination studies
• Auto-Reclosure setting calculation
• Site survey and date collection for Engineering and design.
• Commissioning support for testing team
• Organize the meeting with Consultant / Progress meetings / Tracking / Presentation etc
• Coordination with Client / Consultant / Commissioning Team / Protection Teams to Design / Engineering document approvals
• Capability of handle Multiple Projects in the Al Ain / Abu Dhabi for Engineering / Design
• Should have Valid UAE driving license,
