JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently recruiting for a Commercial Manager to join its UAE business unit, focusing on overseeing contract commercial management tasks on a 5/2 work schedule.

This is a full-time onsite position in Sharjah, UAE, with travel requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role involves overseeing contract commercial management, supporting a significant contract award within our Iraq operations, and collaborating closely with project teams to ensure commercial integrity and strategic alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Objectives

The Commercial Manager—Delivery will manage contract, risk, change management, monitoring returns, cash flow, and supply chain activities, ensuring compliance with the Framework for Managing the Fundamentals (FMF). The role requires robust commercial acumen, adaptability, and leadership in oversight and contract management.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Handover and Initial Setup: Leading structured handovers, analyzing contract remuneration, setting up delegation of authority, understanding project schedules and financial parameters.
  2. Post-Award Contract Administration and Compliance: Ensuring adherence to contract terms, maintaining contractual deliverables, managing correspondence, and documenting compliance.
  3. Risk Management: Managing risks from pre- to post-award phases, monitoring and mitigating risks, and communicating risk status to stakeholders.
  4. Change Management: Understanding contractual change mechanisms, managing change notices, supporting negotiations, and maintaining detailed records.
  5. Procurement and Subcontracting: Ensuring compliance with flow-down obligations and evaluating supplier/subcontractor performance.
  6. Financial and Cash Flow Management: Enforcing cash flow protocols, overseeing project profitability, and managing contingencies.
  7. Project Monitoring and Reporting: Reviewing project performance, preparing reports for senior management.
  8. Project Oversight and Supervision: Supervising Contracts Managers, acting as Contracts Manager on high-priority projects.
  9. Commercial Closeout: Leading closeout processes, managing claims, variations, and disputes.
