The Careem and Uber Legal and Employment Legal Team is a diverse group of talented legal professionals working in a fast-paced environment and focused on solving some of the most exciting, cutting-edge legal challenges in the world.

This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to join a global legal team integral to a company engaged in cutting edge technology and focused on solving some of the biggest challenges in the world - including changing the way regulators, courts and legislators think about the future of work. This role will be based in Dubai, with a direct report in Dubai and will work closely with the MEA Legal and EMEA Employment Legal Team.

What you'll do

• Advise local teams of the Careem Rides business in the MEA region on Employment Legal issues.
• Be part of the broader Careem Rides and Uber Employment Legal Team to help optimize the synergies for the business.
• Advise on employment legal aspects of contracts, business development agreements, and acquisitions.
• Advise on employment legal issues during development of new products and initiatives.
• Research new legislation, advise on impact for the business, and work with policy teams to minimize impact and identify opportunities to improve the quality of independent flexible work in the region.
• Handle and advise on litigation disputes and employment litigation.
• Advise our HR team on employment matters related to recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, compensation, benefits, and terminations in MENAP. Prepare and conduct training on employment topics such as investigations, performance management, and awards.
• Draft, review, and negotiate employment documents including contracts, restrictive covenants, assignment letters, separation agreements, policies, and handbooks.
• Partner with HR and internal audit on projects, investigations, and risk management initiatives.

What you'll need

• 3 - 6 years of employment law experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house, focusing on employment law.
• Knowledge and experience in employment law in at least two jurisdictions from: Morocco, Pakistan, UAE, Kuwait, Iraq, KSA, Bahrain, Jordan, and Egypt.
• Strong business judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Inquisitiveness, issue-spotting ability, and strategic planning skills.
• Experience in efficient resource utilization, including support functions, vendors, and external counsel.
• Collaborative approach, relationship-building skills, and credibility with business and legal teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both collaboratively and independently.
• Enthusiasm for new responsibilities beyond current expertise.
• Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are highly preferred.
