Job description

Job Purpose:

Provision of commercial, contractual and financial management support on projects and to the business to ensure project profit objectives and targets are met, and cash is managed to maximize cash performance all in accordance with the company and group processes & procedures.

Functional Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Sole responsibility for a project or a number of smaller projects
  • All Quantity Surveying duties including measurement, valuation and agreement of work sections.
  • Preparation of interim applications for payment and internal valuations.
  • Issue enquiries, receive quotations, and evaluate for the sub-contract trade where required post-tender, prepare a detailed comparison of the quality of the items and the price quoted by them, obtain the CM's approval and appoint the appropriate sub-contractors in line with company trading terms and conditions.
  • Preparation of procurement schedules, monitoring of progress and advice on critical issues.
  • Administration, measurement and settlement of subcontract accounts.
  • Delay administration including the preparation of extension of time applications and loss & expense claims.
  • Negotiate with clients and consultants on commercial matters.
  • Advise the project management team on contractual implications of operational actions.
  • Preparation of monthly cost/value reconciliation reports, along with commercial & cash flow forecasts.
  • Advise on commercial risks within the project or projects using risk registers and management tools.
  • Liaise with the operations team to develop resource budgets and forecasts, with regular monitoring.
  • Identify project changes/variations and prepare submissions in line with the contract requirements.
  • Attend meetings with the project team and prepare appropriate commercial reports to facilitate discussions.
  • Prepare, submit and agree final accounts in accordance with the contract and negotiate to maximize the outcome for the business.

People Management Roles and Responsibilities:

Guide and motivate junior members of the Quantity Surveying team to enhance performance and produce quality work and ensure that they are continuously developed for higher level roles.

Skill and Experience:

  • BSc / Higher Diploma in Quantity Surveying or Engineering
  • Minimum 7 - 10 years of experience in the interior fit out/construction industry.
