Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Land Surveyor in Dubai, UAE to perform precise surveying and setting-out for stormwater and microtunneling works. The role covers pipelines, shafts, tunnels, and civil structures, establishing alignments, levels, coordinates and survey controls in line with drawings and project specs.

Candidates should have at least 7 years of infrastructure surveying experience, UAE experience preferred, with mandatory RTA approval/certification for Microtunneling Works.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• RTA approval and certification for Microtunneling Works is mandatory.
• Certification in surveying instruments and data management is advantageous.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GPS, Total Station and surveying software.
• Familiarity with RTA, DM and DEWA standards applicable to utility and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform topographic, control and setting-out surveys for stormwater and microtunneling works, including pipelines, shafts, manholes and associated civil structures.
• Establish, verify and maintain survey control points, benchmarks and reference grids in coordination with the contractor's survey team.
• Review and apply approved IFC drawings, alignment data and coordinate systems in accordance with RTA and project requirements.
• Check horizontal and vertical alignments, pipe inverts, tunnel drives and shaft locations before and during construction.
• Ensure setting-out activities follow approved method statements and calibration procedures.
• Conduct as-built surveys and verify the accuracy of contractors' as-built drawings before submission.
• Monitor microtunneling drive alignments and breakthrough coordinates against allowable tolerances.
• Maintain current survey records, field books and digital data files with full traceability of survey operations.
• Coordinate with contractors and the supervision team to resolve survey discrepancies and deviations identified on site.
• Verify and certify survey results supporting measurement sheets, interim payments and progress verification.
• Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings, providing input on survey status, site constraints and required actions.
• Maintain HSE compliance during field activities, particularly work involving confined spaces and shaft areas.
• Calibrate and maintain total stations, GPS equipment and digital levels in accordance with project QA and QC procedures.
• Support testing, commissioning and handover by verifying final levels and coordinates.
