Job description

Position Details
  • Position Title: Driller

  • Contract Duration: 1 (one) year
  • Contract Type: Direct Hire
  • Rotation: 28/28
  • Base Work Location: Dubai (Company owned jack-up rig.)
Job Purpose

The Driller’s role is to carry out drilling operations as necessary in accordance with drilling program requirements and approved company policies and procedures.

To operate/Monitor rig drilling equipment and support systems under the direction of the Tool pusher.

To perform/supervise drilling rig operations, maintenance, and house-keeping duties and material preservation activities as required.

To provide direct supervision of the drilling crew in support of on-going operations.

To Ensure well control for on-going drilling operations, maintaining safe operating conditions for company assets and safety of rig-based personnel.

Minimum Requirements
  • Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the (night) Tool pusher during drilling, work over and completion operations.
  • Ensure all operations are proceeding in a safe manner, and responsible for correcting or notifying responsible person of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
  • Attend and participate in pre-tour, post tour, special operations, and weekly safety meetings.
  • Control actual drilling operations, depending on formations encountered, drilling efficiency, and problems encountered.
  • Make trips as necessary to change bits, tools, and drill string length.
  • Report to (night Tool pusher) any unusual occurrences encountered such as rate of penetration, mud weight, loss of circulation or other changes in hole condition.
  • Conduct regular shut-in drills with all members of the drill crew. Be able to recognize pressure problems with the hole. Know how to line up choke manifold and standpipe. Recognize kicks, shut the well in and circulate out.
  • Maintain good housekeeping on the drill floor at all times.
  • Maintain upkeep of tongs, rotary, draw works and other drill floor accessory equipment.
  • Maintain drill floor inventory control of tools, chains, rope, and other rig supplies.
  • Supervise the preventative maintenance program for drilling equipment and accessories on the rig floor including shale shakers, mud pumps, elevators, slips and other related equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Job-Related Competencies
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent – CV must include achievement/completion date
  • Valid Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) Certificate – CV must include expiry date
  • Valid International Well Control Forum (IWCF) or International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) certificate – CV must include expiry date
  • Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness for Offshore Work – CV must include expiry date
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the same capacity.
