Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Dubai is seeking a skilled Structural Drafter to produce and manage high-quality drawings for steel and concrete bridge projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in structural drafting, with significant time spent on bridge works. Responsibilities include developing design drawings, preparing reinforcement details, and leading submission processes. Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with relevant design codes are essential. This is a full-time position and does not allow remote work.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in structural drafting, with at least 5 years in bridge works.
• Experience in temporary works design.
• Familiarity with AASHTO, BS, Eurocode, or local bridge design codes.

Responsibilities

Overview

To produce and manage high-quality structural and temporary works drawings for steel and concrete bridge projects. This includes drafting permanent structures and temporary systems (gantries, formwork, falsework) and leading the drawing submission process to consultants and authorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed design/shop/as-built drawings for bridge components (girders, decks, piers, foundations, piles, etc.)
• Create reinforcement detailing and bar bending schedules (BBS)
• Prepare cross-sections, profiles and detailing sheets
• Prepare drawings for temporary systems (steel gantries, launching girders, scaffolding, falsework, etc.)
• Develop 2D/3D construction staging sequences
• Ensure constructability and safety compliance in all temporary works
• Lead submission packages to consultants/authorities
• Maintain transmittals logs and revisions
• Respond to and close out comments; revise drawings as needed
• Collaborate with engineers, site teams and other disciplines
• Attend coordination meetings
• Conduct internal checks and maintain drawing accuracy and quality

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelors in Civil Engineering, Drafting Technology or related field
• 10 years in structural drafting (minimum 5 in bridge works, 3 in temporary works)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation
• Familiar with AASHTO, BS, Eurocode or local bridge design and safety codes
• MS Office, Aconex, ProjectWise (or equivalent document control systems)
