Ideal candidates will have senior leadership experience in renewable energy, strong financial acumen, and a track record in delivering complex projects from feasibility to operations.

Qualifications

We're Hiring: Director of Renewable Energy

Level: Senior Management

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and commercially minded Director of Renewable Energy to lead the development and growth of our renewable energy business. This role will be responsible for developing renewable energy strategies, identifying investment and project opportunities, overseeing project development and execution, and building strategic partnerships to support the organization's long-term growth and sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company's renewable energy strategy in line with business objectives and long-term sustainability goals.
• Lead the identification, evaluation, development, and execution of renewable energy projects and investment opportunities.
• Oversee renewable energy projects across the full development lifecycle, from feasibility assessment and site selection through development, construction, commissioning, and operations.
• Evaluate opportunities across renewable energy technologies such as solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, biogas, battery energy storage, and other emerging technologies.
• Conduct feasibility studies, market assessments, financial analysis, and risk evaluations for potential projects.
• Develop project business cases, investment proposals, financial models, budgets, and commercial strategies.
• Identify and develop strategic partnerships with investors, developers, technology providers, utilities, government agencies, and other industry stakeholders.
• Lead negotiations related to project development, power purchase agreements (PPAs), joint ventures, land agreements, EPC contracts, and other commercial arrangements.
• Monitor renewable energy market trends, government policies, regulatory developments, incentives, and emerging technologies.
• Ensure projects comply with applicable environmental, energy, safety, regulatory, and permitting requirements.
• Oversee project budgets, timelines, resources, contractors, consultants, and overall project performance.
• Identify and manage technical, commercial, financial, regulatory, and operational risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work closely with Engineering, Finance, Legal, Procurement, Operations, ESG, and other internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Monitor project performance, financial returns, energy production, operational efficiency, and key business KPIs.
• Lead initiatives to improve project economics, operational efficiency, energy yield, and return on investment.
• Prepare strategic reports, investment recommendations, project updates, and business plans for senior management and investors.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing renewable energy team.
• Represent the company at industry conferences, government meetings, investor discussions, and strategic business engagements.

Requirements

• Proven experience in renewable energy, clean energy, power generation, energy infrastructure, or a related industry.
• Significant experience in a senior leadership role such as Director of Renewable Energy, Head of Renewable Energy, Energy Director, Project Development Director, or similar.
• Demonstrated experience in developing, managing, or investing in renewable energy projects.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, project development, energy markets, and industry trends.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience in project finance, investment analysis, budgeting, and business case development.
• Experience with project development, feasibility studies, permitting, contracts, procurement, and project execution.
• Strong knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), EPC contracts, Joint Ventures (JVs), and other renewable energy commercial structures is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of energy regulations, environmental requirements, permitting processes, and government policies.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong project management, analytical, and strategic decision-making abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong network and relationships within the renewable energy, utilities, infrastructure, investment, or government sectors are an advantage.
• Experience working with international investors, energy companies, technology providers, or strategic partners is an advantage.
• Bachelor's degree in Renewable Energy, Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Master's degree, MBA, or professional qualifications in energy, engineering, finance, or sustainability are an advantage.
