DFIR Lab Security Engineer

Job summary

CPX seeks an experienced DFIR Lab Engineer to manage the lab’s infrastructure, software, and processes. You will deploy forensic tools, maintain assets, and ensure security and data integrity for incident response engagements.

The role requires hands-on experience with EnCase, Magnet Axiom, FTK, Cellebrite, THOR, Velociraptor and related tools, plus strong Linux and virtualization skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a technical lab, DFIR or system engineering with hands-on setup of scalable environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is desirable but not mandatory.
• Experience with asset management, licenses, renewals and budgeting for DFIR lab operations.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Windows/macOS and virtualization environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage DFIR Lab hardware and software systems for high availability.
• Document lab configurations, tool usage guidelines and SOPs.
• Deploy, configure and maintain forensic tools across the lab.
• Ensure security, privacy and data integrity within the lab environment.
• Develop scripts to automate workflows and streamline operations.
• Collaborate with customers to deploy hardware/software for assessments and IR engagements.
