Job Description
Responsible for effective delivery of hands‑on technical support and installations. This will include server hardware and network break‑fix tasks, structured cabling installation, rack deployments and decommissioning activities, site planning, problem escalation and performing installations in an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) datacenter. Prioritize ticketing queues, resolving incidents and escalations, and clear blocking issues to enable continued delivery of hands‑on technician activities in accordance with internal policies and service level agreements. Provide 24x7 site coverage for Oracle OCI datacenter sites.
About The Candidate
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience
- Hands‑on experience in IT Infrastructure support, server and network maintenance and structured cabling in a large‑scale mission‑critical environment
- Hands‑on experience and adequate understanding of data center infrastructure and facility operations
- The position involves on‑call which means you should have a driving license and be able to reach Data Center site within 60 minutes
- This position requires working in cramped spaces or elevated locations
- Ability to speak confidently and to communicate clearly in a virtual environment
- Strong adherence to processes and procedure and be a Process Champion
- Good communication skills (oral & written) and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of customers and staff
- Experience providing client‑facing, direct customer support and service
- Ability to work productively in remote cross‑functional teams, resourcefully and independently as an individual
- Highly service‑oriented, reliable, responsible and self‑motivated
Required Experience
- Hands on experience in server and network hardware installation, break‑fix and troubleshooting
- Hands on experience in structured cabling, troubleshooting methodologies and diagnostic procedures
- Hands on experience with new rack deployments and rack decommissioning activities
- Adequate knowledge of data center infrastructure, facility operations including mechanical and electrical
- Adequate knowledge of airflow management (hot aisle, cold aisle, containment etc.)
- Experience with commissioning new whitespace, data center expansion projects and build‑out activities
- Experience with data center and facility operations involving critical incidents and preventive maintenance
- Linux Operating System working knowledge, proficiency in command line tools
- Experience in handling large inventory and implementing quality control
- Networking fundamentals
Responsibilities
- Act as Hardware support expert liaison to other technical & non‑technical teams (e.g. networking, compute, compliance, business operations)
- Understand internal customer problem and provide hands‑on technical solution in a timely manner
- Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server and network hardware
- System board level repair and fault diagnosis within SLAs
- Structured cabling installation is a significant part of this position
- Planning and commissioning new whitespaces and rack positions
- Rack receiving, installation and decommissioning activities
- Performing monthly, quarterly and annual compliance audits
- Adherence to Oracle, site‑specific and customer‑specific physical security policies (access control, escort procedures, asset handling)
- Adherence to defined health & safety processes
- Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team and be a team player
- Working at customer locations is required
- Keep up with the latest technologies and apply them appropriately
