Job summary

Star Services LLC in Abu Dhabi seeks a Crane Operator II (Finished) to handle billets, load and shift them to rolling mill feeds, and ensure uninterrupted mill operations.

You will perform pre-operation checks, coordinate with Mill production, stack billets by grade/size, and assist maintenance teams as needed.

A UAE crane license and crane operation training are required; strong physical fitness and hand-signal proficiency are essential.

• Basic knowledge of rigging and safe crane operation.
• Conversant with hand signals for crane operation and hazards involved in crane operation.
• Ability to read and understand verbal and written communications and interpret Rolling programs.
• Technical knowledge of crane operation and its controls and carry out pre operation checks.

Responsibilities

• Efficient & Safe handling of billets.
• Liaise with Mill production team for feeding to rolling mills and removing off size/shape/grade billets when instructed.
• Ensure that one crane is in operation when production is in process and other cranes are also in operation as required.
• Perform pre-operation checks of major crane controls and operate cranes as per safe crane practices.
• Shift billets from one location to another when needed and stack billets by grade and size.
• Load trailers as instructed for internal or outdoor shifting and ensure secure stacking.
• Coordinate with other crane operators to prevent safety incidents and maintain uninterrupted production.

JOB DETAIL

General Summary

Handling of billets including and picking up of billets from billet transfer equipment, stacking in

locations, cast , grade and size wise ensuring no mix up between casts and feeding the billets to

rolling mill furnace charging grids as per Rolling program and loading of trailers for shifting outside as

well as internal shifting. Ensuring no interruption of mill operations due to billet feeding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)

• Efficient & Safe handling of billets.
• Liaise with Mill production team for feeding to rolling mills and removing off size/shape/grade
• billets when instructed.
• Ensure that one crane is operation when production is in process, never leave the crane when
• other cranes are not in operation and the production is going on.
• Ensure pre-operation checks of major crane controls
• Operating cranes as per safe crane operational practices.
• Shift billets from one location to another when needed.
• Ensure billets are picked up for charging from location mentioned in rolling program and
• instructed by shift controller
• Ensure each grade and size billets are stacked separately.
• Loading of trailers as and when instructed for either internal shifting or outdoor shifting.
• Ensure adequate coordination amongst other crane operators to prevent safety incidence and
• render uninterrupted service to production departments and loading of dispatch truck.
• Stack billets in secure manner.
• Report on crane performance to the shift controller in every shift.
• Remove ejected billets from furnace charging grid area and stack in secure manner
• Assist engineering crew when assistance is sought by them while attending to maintenance
• issues.
• Maintain the crane operating cabin clean
• Shifting of material from one location to another to accommodate production

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist shift controller in special requirement of handling material .
• Assist shift controller exercising control and monitoring of inventory management, investigation
• of safety & environment incidents.
• Assist shift controllers in accomplishing other material handling requirements

Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves) Any preferred professional
