Job description

Consultant – Pediatric Hematology position in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This senior physician role requires a board‑certified pediatric hematologist with a minimum of five years of post‑specialization experience in a tertiary, academic or advanced pediatric setting. The consultant will provide specialist care for infants, children and adolescents with inherited and acquired hematologic disorders, diagnosing and managing complex conditions and coordinating multidisciplinary care.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat pediatric hematologic conditions including anemia, hemophilia, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, platelet disorders, clotting abnormalities and bone marrow failure syndromes.
• Conduct detailed clinical assessments, review medical history, interpret laboratory findings and coordinate advanced diagnostic workups for complex pediatric blood disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans including transfusion therapy, iron chelation, immunotherapy, medication management, monitoring schedules and long‑term follow‑up care.
• Manage children requiring chronic hematology care, acute hematologic stabilization, complication prevention and coordinated multidisciplinary support.
• Collaborate with pediatric oncologists, pathologists, geneticists, pediatricians, intensivists, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals for integrated care.
• Provide counseling and education to families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication adherence, transfusion needs, genetic implications and long‑term disease management.
• Participate in tumor boards, hematology case discussions, clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Support academic teaching, CME programs, resident education and research activities related to pediatric hematology.
• Maintain accurate medical records, consultation notes, treatment plans, transfusion documentation, consent records, laboratory reviews and follow‑up reports.
• Ensure clinical care follows DHA standards, hospital policies, patient safety protocols, infection control requirements and evidence‑based hematology practice.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with children, parents and caregivers to support trust, understanding and continuity of care.
• Contribute to a safe and supportive pediatric care environment focused on clinical quality, family confidence and long‑term health outcomes.

Ideal Profile

• Medical degree such as MBBS, MD or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Board certification in Pediatric Hematology (e.g., American Board, UK CCT or equivalent).
• DHA eligibility or active DHA license as a Consultant Pediatric Hematologist.
• Minimum five years of post‑specialization experience in a tertiary care hospital, academic centre or advanced pediatric hematology setting.
• Proven expertise in managing complex hematologic disorders in children including anemia, hemophilia, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, platelet disorders, clotting abnormalities and bone marrow failure syndromes.
• Experience with transfusion therapy, iron chelation, immunotherapy and long‑term pediatric hematology follow‑up.
• Participation in multidisciplinary case reviews, tumor boards, clinical audits, teaching or research is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a family‑centered approach.
• Strong clinical judgment, documentation ability, teamwork and patient safety awareness.
