Job summary

Kerzner International Limited is recruiting a Pastry & Bakery Commis III for One&Only The Palm in Dubai. You will contribute to creating high-quality pastries and desserts and support a world-class culinary team in a luxury hotel environment.

Key duties include producing pastries to recipe standards, maintaining mise-en-place, and ensuring hygiene and food safety. 1-2 years’ experience and strong teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in a pastry and bakery kitchen, preferably in a luxury hotel, resort, bakery or restaurant.
• Fluent English is required; additional language skills are an advantage.
• Basic understanding of pastry, bakery and dessert preparation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and baking pastries, cakes, breads, desserts to established recipes.
• Ensure quality, taste, texture and presentation across all pastry items.
• Prepare mise-en-place and ensure ingredients and equipment are ready for service.
• Maintain hygiene, HACCP standards and a clean pastry workstation at all times.
• Support production for banquets and high-volume events.

Kerzner International currently has a fantastic opportunity for a Pastry amp Bakery Commis III to join the Pastry team at One amp Only The Palm Hotel in Dubai With the global growth of our brands Pastry amp Bakery Commis III plays an essential role in the continued success of the Resort

Your responsibilities extend beyond creating high-quality pastries and desserts you will contribute to developing strong working relationships with colleagues and supporting an exceptional culinary experience for our guests You will be responsible for overseeing your designated pastry amp bakery section ensuring consistency in the quality and presentation of all pastry bakery and dessert items while maintaining cost control and upholding our company s core values This role also involves supervising daily pastry kitchen operations training and mentoring junior team members managing mise-en-place and production schedules monitoring inventory levels and maintaining the highest standards of hygiene food safety and product excellence You will work closely with the Pastry Sous Chef and Executive Pastry Chef to support menu development seasonal offerings and innovation within the pastry department

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and baking of pastries cakes breads desserts and other bakery products according to established recipes and standards
• Ensure consistency in the quality taste texture and presentation of all pastry and bakery items
• Support the Pastry amp Bakery Chef de Partie and senior chefs in daily production activities
• Prepare mise-en-place and ensure all ingredients tools and equipment are ready for service and production
• Assist in the preparation of seasonal pastries specialty cakes desserts breads and promotional menu items
• Monitor stock levels of pastry and bakery ingredients and report shortages to supervisors
• Ensure proper storage labeling and rotation of ingredients in accordance with FIFO procedures
• Check ingredients for freshness quality and suitability before use
• Maintain a clean organized and hygienic pastry and bakery workstation at all times
• Adhere to food safety regulations HACCP standards and hygiene practices
• Assist with pastry and bakery production for banquets events and high-volume operations
• Safely operate clean and maintain bakery and pastry equipment reporting any maintenance requirements promptly
• Minimize food wastage through efficient preparation handling and portion control
• Support inventory checks stock counts and receiving of pastry and bakery supplies as required
• Participate in training sessions kitchen briefings and team meetings to enhance technical skills and product knowledge
• Work collaboratively with kitchen colleagues to ensure smooth and efficient operations
• Assist other culinary sections when required and contribute to a positive and productive team environment
• Comply with all company policies health and safety regulations and sanitation standards
• Follow instructions from senior chefs and demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop pastry and bakery skills

A suitable candidate should have 1-2 years of experience in a pastry and bakery kitchen, preferably within a luxury hotel, resort, bakery, or restaurant environment. The ideal candidate should possess a basic understanding of pastry, bakery, and dessert preparation techniques, strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a passion for producing high-quality products. The candidate should be eager to learn, demonstrate attention to detail, and be able to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in English is required; additional language skills will be an advantage.
