Job summary

Kaizen Paint is seeking a Colour Matcher to execute precise colour development, tinting adjustments, and quality checks for production batches and custom orders. You will work with digital targets and physical panels to ensure colour accuracy and consistency across coatings.

The role requires 3–5 years in a similar position, strong knowledge of tinting systems and pigments, and experience with spectrophotometers and Largo Synergy/Datacolor software.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or an equivalent Technical Diploma.
• 3–5 years of experience as Colour Matcher or QC Tinting Chemist.
• Proficient in visual colour differentiation and knowledge of paint materials.
• Hands-on with spectrophotometers and colour-matching software Largo Synergy, Datacolor.

Responsibilities

• Colour matching and development for liquids and solids in production and customer orders.
• Calculate tinting and pigment adjustments to bring out-of-spec colours within tolerance.
• Use Largo Synergy and spectrophotometers to manage colour data and approvals.
• Perform visual colour assessments under standardized lighting to verify accuracy and gloss levels.
• Log all colour formulations and testing results into databases or Excel files.
• Coordinate with Production and QC to resolve colour issues on the shop floor.
• Adhere to laboratory and production safety standards and wear PPE as required.

About this Role

The Colour Matcher is a specialised role responsible for executing precise colour matching, colour development, and tinting adjustments for production batches, and custom customer orders.

Key Responsibilities

• Colour Matching & Development: Develop accurate colour formulations for liquid water based & solvent based coating on physical standard panels, wet samples, or digital colour targets.

• Batch Correction & Adjustments: Calculate and recommend precise tinting and pigment adjustments for production batches to bring out-of-spec colours within strict tolerance limits.

• Digital Colour Management: Utilize specialized colour software (such as Largo Synergy) and spectrophotometers to analyse, store, and manage colour approval data and digital colour standards.

• Visual Evaluation & Quality Control: Perform visual colour assessments under standardized lighting conditions (e.g., light booths) to verify colour accuracy, product finish and gloss levels.

• Drawdown Management: Prepare, apply, and maintain organised, easily traceable records of approved drawdowns and physical reference colour panels.

• Standard Maintenance: Maintain, update, and safely store master physical colour standards.

• Documentation & Data Recording: Log all colour formulations, correction data, and testing results accurately into designated databases or Excel files.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with the Production and QC teams to resolve colour-related issues on the shop floor and ensure smooth batch progression.

• HSE Compliance: Adhere strictly to laboratory and production safety standards, maintaining a clean workspace and utilizing correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals and pigments.

Job Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or an equivalent Technical Diploma

• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of dedicated experience as a Colour Matcher or QC Tinting Chemist in a reputed paints and coatings manufacturing company.

• Technical Skills: High proficiency in visual colour differentiation (passing Munsell Hue test preferred) and deep knowledge of paint raw materials, pigments, and tinting systems.

• Software Competency: Hands-on experience with spectrophotometers and colour-matching software (e.g., Largo Synergy, Datacolor)

• Certifications: Additional certifications or training in industrial colour theory, quality control methodologies, or ISO 9001 standards are highly advantageous.
