Job summary

Canon Inc. in the United Arab Emirates is seeking an experienced finance professional to own the monthly close and all financial reporting.

You will develop and monitor internal controls, coordinate with Marketing, Service and Supply Chain to meet inventory targets, and manage accounts payable functions. The role involves finalizing monthly/annual accounts, preparing accruals and reconciliations, and supporting the BU Controller with a wide range of accounting tasks, including year-end audit

Qualifications

• Relevant recognized formal qualifications (University major in financial accounting) (essential).
• Professional Accounting qualifications (CA, CPA, CMA, etc).
• Practical hands-on exposure in a similar Finance role (3 years minimum). Lease Accounting experience is beneficial.
• Fluency in written and spoken English essential (essential).
• High level of written and spoken communications required (essential).
• Professional appearance, attitude and communication style (essential).
• Familiarity with MS Office, Email and Internet (essential).
• High level of Excel skills (essential).
• Able to work in multicultural environment.
• Methodical, disciplined individual with good attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Finalization of Monthly and Annual Financial Accounts and timely reports.
• Prepare accruals, depreciation, prepaid, inventory provision and end-month adjustments.
• Prepare monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Booking of financial entries and routine accounting tasks.
• Assist BU Controller with accounting functions.
• Coordinate with auditors for Year-End Audit.
• Lease Accounting – ensure lease accounts per US GAAP.
• Maintain petty cash and related entries.
• Support cross-functional teams to achieve inventory targets.

Job Description

• To take full responsibility for the Financial Month Close and all Financial Reporting.

• To develop, implement and monitor the internal controls.

• To achieve Inventory Level targets in coordination with the Marketing, Service and Supply Chain Department.

• To be responsible for the Accounts Payable Function by posting invoices, expense claims, payments and other related journal entries.

• To assist the BU Controller with a wide range of accounting functions.

  
  

Responsibilities

Accounting

• Finalization of Monthly and Annual Financial Accounts to ensure timely preparation of Monthly Reports with Actual v Budget within Canon's guidelines.

• Prepare monthly accruals, depreciation, prepaid, inventory provision and other month end financial adjustments.

• Prepare monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations.

• Booking of financial entries.

• Overall assistance in daily routine work including Payables, Payments, Accounting, Banking, Sales Invoice Posting, etc.

• Supervision and assistance to junior team members as required with accounting matters.

• Coordination with auditors for Financial Year-End Audit.

• Lease Accounting – ensure lease accounts are maintained as per US GAAP.

• Petty Cash Control and financial entry booking.

Reporting

• Preparation of Monthly Financial Reports – Balance Sheet, P&L.
• Inventory Report, analysis and leading monthly meetings with Marketing, Supply Chain and Service to achieve Target.
• Other ad hoc reports and analysis as required by BU Controller.

General

• Manage Cash Flow.
• Develop, document, implement and maintain Internal Control Policies and Procedures.
• Maintain and update Financial and Accounting records/filing of the department.
• Gain a strong understanding of the ERP system and implement various modules and improvements with the assistance of ICT.
• Offer support to other Finance team members.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the BU Controller.
