Job summary

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) invites applications for full-time Associate Professor and Full Professor positions in the College of Law. Teaching loads are 12 credit hours per academic semester, with instruction in English (Arabic where applicable) for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Successful candidates will teach, advise students, participate in committee activities, and contribute to professional and community service.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Law from a US or recognized international university.
• Ph.D. must be completed by time of recruitment.
• Minimum 18 credit hours of graduate-level study in the relevant field.
• Three Scopus-indexed articles or five peer-reviewed law articles in past five years.

The College of Law at the American University in the Emirates (AUE) invites applications from qualified Ph.D. holders for Full-Time Faculty positions at the Associate Professor and Full Professor levels.

Academic Year: 2026-2027

Specialization The successful candidate will be a Ph.D.-qualified faculty member with relevant academic and professional experience in Administrative and Constitutional Law, and will be expected to teach courses in this area within the College of Law.

Instruction Language: English (Arabic where applicable)
Teaching Load: 12 credit hours per academic semester

Job Purpose The successful candidate will be responsible for providing students with professional expertise through teaching, assessing student work, academic advising, participating in administrative and committee activities, and contributing to professional and community service.

Qualifications & Education

• Ph.D. in Law (Public Law, Administrative Law, Constitutional Law, or a closely related field) from an accredited university in the United States or a recognized international university accredited by a recognized accreditation body.
• Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. by the time of recruitment.
• A minimum of 18 credit hours of graduate-level study in the relevant field.
• A minimum of three articles published in Scopus-indexed journals or five articles in peer-reviewed law journals within the past five years.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of teaching and/or professional legal experience (such as legal practice, the judiciary, or legal advisory roles) at an internationally accredited university or in a relevant professional setting.
• Proven record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Skills / Training / Knowledge

• Knowledge and experience in curriculum development and review.
• Demonstrated record of professional accomplishment, including peer-reviewed publications in Administrative and Constitutional Law.
• Active research agenda and interest in research collaboration with other faculty members.
• Ability to integrate web-based and digital technologies, including legal databases, into the classroom.
• Willingness to provide service to the University and the College.
• Excellent English proficiency and communication skills for faculty teaching in English.
• Excellent Arabic proficiency and communication skills for faculty teaching in Arabic, where applicable.

Instructional Delivery (Teaching Performance)

• Deliver research- and practice-driven teaching in Administrative and Constitutional Law.
• Apply current pedagogical techniques, such as case-based learning, moot court, and legal analysis exercises, that stimulate students’ inquiry and engagement.
• Provide students with a broad and coherent body of legal knowledge while developing relevant skills and competencies through effective teaching and appropriate assessment methods.

Instructional Management

• Effectively manage the instructional process and maintain a positive and engaging learning environment.

Assessment and Evaluation

• Evaluate student performance and assign grades in accordance with established academic standards.
• Provide clear assessment criteria that reflect course content and intended learning outcomes.
• Set clear expectations for students and ensure fairness and objectivity in assessment practices.

Curriculum Development and Review

• Contribute to the regular review and improvement of existing curricula to ensure quality and effectiveness.

Quality

• Ensure the currency and relevance of legal theories, legislation, and practices within the field.
• Maintain intellectual rigor appropriate to the level of the degree program.

Effectiveness

• Promote increasingly complex presentation and application of legal theories, principles, and practices.
• Support increasingly complex levels of legal analysis and competency development.
• Facilitate the practical application of legal principles.

Professional Development

• Maintain and develop current academic knowledge, teaching methodologies, disciplinary expertise, professional certifications, technology-related skills, and leadership capabilities through participation in internal and external workshops, seminars, conferences, and training programs.
