Job summary

Aldar Education is seeking a Classroom Assistant for Noya British School in Abu Dhabi for AY 26/27 to support our growing family of owned and operated schools in the UAE.

The successful candidate will join a welcoming school community, assisting pupils inside and outside the classroom to participate in activities and to support their wellbeing. A minimum secondary certificate and two years in a school setting are required, with English language skills per the curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for individual pupils / groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable participation in activities and support wellbeing.
• Be proactive in health and safety matters.
• Assist in implementing individual education programmes and monitor progress.
• Support pupils with additional needs and help develop social skills.
• Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
• Prepare and present displays of pupils’ work.
• Support teachers with photocopying and other tasks to support teaching.
• Comply with health and safety requirements and school policies.
• Academic assistance and group/individual instruction as prescribed.
• Demonstrate instructional activities and monitor work in progress.
• Keep pupils on task and reinforce achievements.
• Reorganise materials at the end of the day and check attendance.
• Supervise pupils in classrooms and other locations.
• Contribute to behaviour policy development and promote pupil self-esteem.
• Discipline misbehavior in line with school policy.

Responsibilities

Main Duties

• Provide support for individual pupils / groups of pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in a range of activities during the school day and to provide for their social, emotional and physical well-being
• Be pro-active in matters relating to health and safety
• Assist in the implementation of individual education programmes for individual pupils / groups of pupils and help monitor their progress
• Support pupils with additional support needs e.g. emotional and behavioural difficulties and help to develop their social skills
• Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records
• Prepare and present displays of pupils’ work
• Support class teachers in photocopying and other tasks in order to support teaching
• Support the aims of the school; comply with the requirements of health and safety, other relevant legislation and school policies.

Specific Duties

• Academic assistance.
• Giving group instruction as prescribed by the teacher/providing individual instruction.
• Demonstrating various instructional activities.
• Monitoring work assigned by teacher – checking and correcting pupils’ work while in progress.
• Keeping pupils on task.
• Praising and reinforcing achievements of pupils/reporting pupil progress to teacher.
• Reorganising materials at the end of the day.
• Checking attendance.
• Supervising pupils in the classrooms and other locations.
• Participating in development of behaviour policy/promoting pupils self esteem.
• Disciplining misbehaviour in line with the whole school policy.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum secondary school certificate.
• At least two-year experience in a school setting.
• English language skills according to the school curriculum.
