Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Child Life Therapist to join our client's team in Abu Dhabi. This role is based within one of the UAE's largest government-affiliated healthcare networks, renowned for its patient-centered approach and specialized pediatric care services. The Child Life Therapist will play a vital role in supporting children and their families as they cope with hospitalization, illness, and medical procedures by providing emotional support, therapeutic play, and age-appropriate education.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Provide counseling and psychosocial support to patients and families dealing with medical, emotional, and social challenges.
  2. Assess patients' social, emotional, and financial needs and develop appropriate care plans.
  3. Act as a liaison between patients, families, healthcare providers, and community resources.
  4. Support families in coping with long-term illnesses, rehabilitation, and end-of-life care.
  5. Assist in discharge planning and coordinate post-hospitalization services.
  6. Advocate for patients' rights, ensuring they receive adequate support and resources.
  7. Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and referrals.
  8. Conduct awareness and educational sessions as part of holistic healthcare delivery.
  9. Adhere to ethical standards, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity at all times.

Requirements to be considered include:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Child Life, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
  2. Certification as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS) or equivalent is strongly preferred.
  3. Valid UAE healthcare professional license or eligibility to obtain one.
  4. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a pediatric hospital or clinical setting.
  5. Strong understanding of child development and pediatric psychosocial care.
  6. Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care to children and families.
