JOB PURPOSE
The Chief of Staff is accountable for optimizing the operating model primarily focusing on 1 st line of defense and the effectiveness of the overall governance framework across all lines.
To this end, the Chief of Staff role, in conjunction with the GH, is concerned with the effective management of all international branches that rolls up to the GH acting as an independent and trusted advisor to senior management across multiple domains including:
In this role, the Chief of Staff is expected to lead and manage the Chief of Staff office team as well as the Internal Control Unit team across IBG
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge
Banking and Financial Services: Strong understanding of global banking operations, financial products, compliance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions
International Markets: Knowledge of the intricacies of international markets, foreign exchange, capital markets, and geopolitical factors affecting banking
Corporate Strategy: Experience in crafting and executing strategic plans, setting long‑term goals, and ensuring alignment with the bank’s mission and objectives
Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with global regulations such as Basel III, anti‑money laundering laws, and other country‑specific regulations
Operational Excellence: Knowledge of business process optimization, cost management, and service delivery in a complex organizational setting

Leadership and People Management: Ability to manage and influence teams, without authority, and foster collaboration across departments and regions
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, with an ability to convey complex issues clearly to stakeholders at all levels

Experience
15‑20 Years of Banking Experience, with at least 5 years working at senior executive level and at least 5 years with exposure in International banking
Banking or Financial Services Leadership: Experience in a management role within a financial institution, ideally in an international or multi‑regional capacity
Strategy formulation and execution
Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to engage with high‑level internal and external stakeholders, including leadership, consultants, and regulatory authorities
Cross‑Functional Experience: Experience in closely working with different bank functions and ensuring cohesive alignment with the bank’s overall strategy
Change Management: Expertise in driving/supporting transformation initiatives such as digital innovation, process enhancements and regulatory shifts
International Exposure: A background of working in or managing teams across multiple countries or regions, understanding diverse markets and regulations
Soft Skills
The ability to understand and manage emotions, build strong relationships, and navigate complex interpersonal dynamics
Adaptability and resilience in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment and in the face of challenges
