Overview

The BIM Coordinator plays a critical role in managing and coordinating Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes for infrastructure and utility projects. This position ensures accurate, integrated, and compliant digital models across all project phases, facilitating collaboration between design, engineering, and construction teams.

Your role
  • Completion of tasks received from Engineers.
  • The production of general arrangement drawings using Revit.
  • Preparation of sketches.
  • Prepare models and drawings in accordance with specifications, engineering best practice and Atkins BIM within the Atkins Quality System.
  • Coordination with other design disciplines.
  • Plan and organise own work.
  • To undertake data studies and spread sheet manipulations as necessary.
  • Prepare illustrations as necessary.
  • Understanding the business’s goals and to help to meet them.
  • Understanding the project imperatives (i.e. ‘output’ required) and prioritise workload (‘input’) to meet the objectives.
  • Communicating effectively with other teams in the business.
  • Other duties as requested from time to time.
About you
  • Must have experience operating as a dedicated BIM Coordinator.
  • Knowledge of design processes working within a multiple discipline engineering environment, and within a project and commercially focused business.
  • Identify, interpret and apply required industry/ client/ internal standards.
  • Experience of a number of the following technical applications: Bentley Rail Track, Bentley.
  • Revit, Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suite, Navisworks, Bentley Navigator, ProjectWise, AutoCAD and AutoDesk products.
  • Experience in delivering technical training.
  • To be familiar with BIM Civil 3D /Revit software.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years in BIM/Revit experience.
  • Good grasp of engineering principles and spatial co-ordination.
  • Adherence to Atkins BIM Standards.
  • Exposure to infrastructure design processes.
  • Must have appreciation of interfacing with architectural, MEP and structural disciplines.
  • Must be able to interpret Dry utilities networks including MV, LV, Telecom, Street lighting, ELV engineering requirements.
  • Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources and show potential to work with limited supervision.
  • Experience in working under quality systems, specifically the check and review process.
  • Intimate knowledge of industry standard layouts and nomenclature.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Working in teams to deadlines.
  • Experience in working with both consultants/contractors.
