Job summary

Hired is seeking an Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide specialized legal counsel on energy sector regulations and compliance matters. This remote, contract role covers federal and state energy laws, tariffs, and regulatory filings, supporting high-stakes regulatory proceedings.

The attorney will draft filings, analyze regulations, and represent the client in meetings with regulators and industry groups, coordinating with cross-functional teams to align legal strategy with business objectives.

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Experience in energy law, including familiarity with FERC and state utility law.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills for regulatory contexts.
  • Experience handling regulatory filings and proceedings in energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on compliance with federal and state energy regulations, including FERC, state public utility commissions, and environmental standards.
  • Draft and file regulatory documents, petitions, and motions in energy-related proceedings before regulatory agencies.
  • Analyze proposed regulations, tariffs, and rate cases to assess legal risks and develop strategic responses.
  • Represent the client in meetings with regulators, stakeholders, and industry groups to advocate for favorable regulatory outcomes.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and provide timely updates to leadership.

Role Overview

We are hiring for one of our clients, seeking an Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide specialized legal counsel on energy sector regulations and compliance matters. The role requires expertise in advising on federal and state energy laws, including rates, tariffs, and regulatory filings. The attorney will support high-stakes regulatory proceedings and policy development for a leading entity in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise on compliance with federal and state energy regulations, including FERC, state public utility commissions, and environmental standards.
  • Draft and file regulatory documents, petitions, and motions in energy-related proceedings before regulatory agencies.
  • Analyze proposed regulations, tariffs, and rate cases to assess legal risks and develop strategic responses.
