Job description

The purpose of this position is to provide effective engineering and maintenance services covering the Automatic Train Control (ATC) system for Dubai Metro.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the ATC Team Leader in carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance activities on the ATC system, including System Management Centre, Vehicle Control Centre, central control (vital and non-vital), vehicle onboard equipment, and lineside equipment.
  2. Install, service, and repair signalling and train control systems located in operations control centres, signalling equipment rooms, stations, depots, along tracks, and onboard trains.
  3. Perform repairs and maintenance using hand tools, machines, electrical and electronic tools, referencing technical drawings, schematics, manuals, procedures, and instructions.
  4. Replace faulty signalling equipment and coordinate repairs with the electronics workshop.
  5. Regularly assess knowledge and competence in technical standards.
  6. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and work accomplished using a computerized management system.
  7. Ensure maintenance tools and equipment are kept in good condition before and after use.
  8. Assist the ATC Team Leader and support staff in implementing complex systems or new projects.
  9. Perform shift and emergency duties as required.
  10. Carry out additional duties as instructed by the ATC Team Leader.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • IRSE license is mandatory, with certification to work on railway signalling equipment.
  • Knowledge of signalling principles, fixed and moving block systems, software-based interlocking, point machines, loops, cab signalling, onboard and wayside signalling equipment is advantageous.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Good eyesight and normal colour vision.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of software-based signalling and train control systems.
  • Ability to use and calibrate electronic test equipment and PCs for maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to write technical reports, routine correspondence, and prepare method statements and drawings.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail orientation, and multitasking ability.
  • Valid UAE driving license with good driving skills and experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a qualified electrical or mechanical technician maintaining and repairing computer-based control and communication equipment, including cables and interface equipment.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Vocational trade certificate, diploma, or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
