Job description

The purpose of this position is to supervise and lead a number of line maintenance teams to provide comprehensive engineering and maintenance services covering the ATC systems for Dubai Metro.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the ATC Manager in leading and giving guidance to a number of ATC system engineering and maintenance teams in carrying out all level of preventive and corrective maintenance activities for the ATC equipment
  • Assist ATC Manager in the ATC system maintenance works planning and logistics
  • Follow the appropriate maintenance procedures and instructions to ensure compliance with the requirements
  • Assist subordinates with the job familiarisation where required
  • Give guidance to ATC Team Leaders to maintain accurate maintenance records of ATC system, equipment performance, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system
  • Supervise the First Line Response Technician in carrying out their duties during critical KPI impact fault
  • Provide technical support to other staff for the implementation of complex systems or new projects
  • Carry out 24-hour on-call responsibility for incidents and emergency within its section
  • Perform shift and emergency duties when required
  • Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty
  • Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the ATC Manager
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Thorough understanding of the use, calibration and care of various electronic test equipment and ability to interpret instructions in a variety of written, verbal, pictorial forms in order to carry out the maintenance activities as required
  • Thorough understanding of all aspects of safety issues related to railway operations
  • IRSE license on railway signalling equipment would be an advantage
KEY SKILLS
  • Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision
  • Ability to compile technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required;
  • Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Hold a valid UAE driving license with good driving skill and experience
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 2 years work experience as a qualified electrical or electronics technician in maintaining and repairing computer based control and communications equipment, copper and fibre-optical based cables and interface equipment is highly preferable
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory and management experience in managing a technical support team with an aim to minimise the equipment down time and asset life cycle costs of the automatic train control system;
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFCATION
  • Ideally a Degree holder or High diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent.
