Job summary

EDGE Group in the United Arab Emirates is seeking an Assistant Technician - Mechanical Assembly to support the Advanced Concepts division in assembling precision components per drawings, BOM, and work instructions. You will use hand tools, torque wrenches, fixtures, and engage in thorough record-keeping at each stage of the process.

• ITI Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fitter, or equivalent trade qualification.
• Basic metrology knowledge and familiarity with ISO 9001 assembly documentation preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical assembly in a manufacturing, engineering, or precision production environment.
• Basic understanding of mechanical components: bearings, fasteners, seals, gears, and actuators.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Technicians in the mechanical assembly of precision components, sub-assemblies, and finished products in accordance with assembly drawings, work instructions, and BOM.
• Perform repetitive assembly tasks independently including fastener torquing, pin and dowel fitting, bearing installation, seal and gasket fitting, and sub-assembly joining.
• Use hand tools, torque wrenches, press tools, and fixtures correctly and safely; maintain tooling in good condition and report damage or calibration due dates.
• Conduct basic dimensional and visual checks on assembled components against inspection checklists; report non-conformances to the Senior Technician or QC Inspector.
• Maintain accurate assembly records, sign-off sheets, and job traveler entries at each stage of the assembly process.
• Keep the assembly workstation clean, organized, and compliant with 5S and FOD control standards at all times.
• Follow all EHS, LOTO, and PPE requirements applicable to the assembly area.
• Participate in on-the-job training programmes to develop skills toward independent technician-level assembly competency.

ADVANCED CONCEPTS is an entity within EDGE dedicated to the design and deployment of advanced, innovative technologies. ADVANCED CONCEPTS is fast-tracking the development of high-technology autonomous systems, including three Medium Endurance, High Altitude, fixed-wing unmanned aerial systems, a family of precision loitering munitions, a cost- effective family of cruise missiles, and a range of guided artillery munitions.
