Overview
The University of Khorfakkan (UKF) invites applications for faculty positions (Assistant or Associate rank) in the College of Law. As a newly established and forward-looking law school, UKF seeks outstanding scholars and educators who are committed to excellence in bilingual legal education, cutting-edge research, and innovative teaching. Successful candidates will join the College of Law during a formative period, contributing to the launch of a new curriculum (commencing Spring 2026) that places student-centered learning, bilingual (Arabic and English) instruction, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies at the core of the educational process.
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate law courses in both Arabic and English.
- Contribute to foundational courses in Civil Law, Public Law, Criminal Law, and UAE Law, as well as specialized courses in Cultural Heritage Law, Maritime & Shipping Law, and Environmental Law.
- Integrate new student-centered pedagogical methods (e.g., problem-based learning, moot courts, simulations, blended and experiential learning).
- Contribute to the design and delivery of the new forward-looking curriculum structure, which emphasizes global and regional relevance, technology integration, and bilingual proficiency.
Research & Scholarship
- Maintain an active research agenda with publications in reputable outlets, consistent with disciplinary standards.
- Pursue research and applied projects in areas of expertise, ideally linked to the UAE, the region, or global challenges.
- Incorporate AI and digital tools in research methodologies and outputs.
Innovation & AI Integration
- Use AI tools not only for teaching but also for developing AI-based solutions in legal education, research, and practice.
- Guide students in the responsible and advanced use of technology for legal analysis, practice-readiness, and global competitiveness.
Institutional Development & Service
- Play an active role in shaping the intellectual life of the College of Law through conferences, workshops, public lectures, and collaborations.
- Support the early formation and growth of the College, helping establish its academic identity and reputation.
- Participate in university governance and community engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Essential
- PhD / SJD in Law from a recognized institution.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in law, with ability to deliver in both Arabic and English.
- Active research record with publications in reputable, peer-reviewed outlets.
- Experience in innovative, student-centered teaching practices.
- Familiarity with, or readiness to engage in, teaching UAE law.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI beyond basic functions for teaching, research, and/or solution development.
- Desirable
- Expertise in one or more of the following (but not excluding other specializations): Civil Law, Public Law, Criminal Law, Cultural Heritage Law, Maritime & Shipping Law, Environmental Law.
- Prior experience in curriculum design, especially in bilingual or comparative law programs.
- Engagement in interdisciplinary research bridging law, technology, and society.
- International teaching and/or professional experience.
