Requirements & Responsibilities
UOWD invites applications for Assistant Professor and Associate Professor roles in Modern Cybersecurity. These are new appointments supporting program growth at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The role is balanced across teaching and research, with a full teaching load and strong expectations for research productivity, postgraduate supervision, and contribution to the academic development of the School.
The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering core and specialist cybersecurity subjects, supervising Master’s research, and contributing to UOWD’s research profile in modern cybersecurity.
The appointees will teach across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, which may include:
- MACS901 – Advanced Network Security & Threat Detection
- MACS902 – Modern Cryptography
- MACS903 – Secure Software Development & Penetration Testing
- MACS904 – Cloud, IoT & Emerging Technologies Security
- MACS905 – Cybersecurity Governance, Risk & Compliance
- MACS906 – Cybersecurity Strategy & Leadership
- MDT917 – Cyber Security Practitioner

Teaching responsibilities include:
- Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
- Supervision of Master’s dissertations and research projects
- Use of modern, interactive, and technology-enabled teaching approaches
Research Expectations
The successful candidates will demonstrate a strong and sustained research profile, including:
- A minimum of ten (10) peer-reviewed journal publications in the last five years
- Publications indexed in Scopus and/or Web of Science
- Evidence of secured research funding and grant activity
- Engagement in interdisciplinary research collaboration
- Clear alignment of research agenda with modern cybersecurity themes
Qualifications & Experience
To qualify for the above role, candidate must have the following qualifications and experience
- A PhD in Computer Science, with a doctoral thesis in Cybersecurity
- A Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
- At least 4 years of teaching experience at an internationally recognized institution
- Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science
- Demonstrated expertise in modern cybersecurity tools, technologies, and practices
- Proven ability to teach large undergraduate and postgraduate classes
- Strong research track record in cybersecurity
- Fluency in the English language (both spoken and written)
- Prior teaching experience in the GCC or similar international contexts
- Industry experience in advanced cybersecurity systems or the IT/technology sector
- Ability to integrate practical, hands‑on cybersecurity tools into teaching and research
