The Aquarist is responsible for helping maintain healthy and sanitary living conditions, appropriate nutrition and consistent care for marine and freshwater animals. Daily responsibilities extend from animal observations and scheduled feedings to exhibit maintenance, water quality monitoring and accurate departmental records. The position also has a guest-facing educational element, requiring the ability to share marine-life knowledge enthusiastically and create meaningful experiences through presentations and interactions.
You will conduct marine educational programmes for guests, sharing detailed knowledge of marine life and relevant operations in an engaging and professional manner. The role also involves researching, preparing and delivering structured educational presentations for colleagues and guests when required.
PADI Rescue Scuba Certification or an equivalent qualification is required. Candidates must have at least two years of aquarium experience or equivalent experience within a relevant field or facility. A bachelor 's degree, preferably in Biology, Zoology, Marine Science or a related discipline, is desirable. You should have a basic understanding of animal husbandry, basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office. Clear professional communication and proficiency in written and spoken English are required. You should be able to work both independently and collaboratively while communicating enthusiastically with guests during programmes and interactions. Basic animal record-keeping skills are expected. Experience with online animal tracking systems such as OERCA or ZIMS is desirable.
