We are seeking a technically skilled and solution-oriented API Integration Specialist | Integration Architect to design, develop, and manage scalable integration solutions across applications, platforms, and enterprise systems. This role will work closely with software engineering, cloud, data, security, and business teams to build reliable APIs and integration architectures that enable seamless data exchange and efficient business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable API and enterprise integration solutions.
- Develop, configure, and maintain RESTful APIs, SOAP services, and other integration interfaces.
- Design integration architectures connecting internal applications, third-party platforms, SaaS solutions, databases, and cloud services.
- Analyze business and technical requirements to determine appropriate integration approaches.
- Develop API specifications, integration workflows, interface definitions, and technical documentation.
- Establish API design standards, integration patterns, naming conventions, and development best practices.
- Build secure and reliable data‑exchange mechanisms between systems and applications.
- Integrate CRM, ERP, payment, e‑commerce, analytics, identity, and other enterprise platforms.
- Develop middleware and integration services using appropriate enterprise integration technologies.
- Work with event‑driven architectures, message queues, asynchronous processing, and real‑time integrations where required.
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, API keys, and JWT.
- Apply encryption, access controls, rate limiting, and other security measures to protect APIs and integrations.
- Design API gateways, service interfaces, routing, transformation, and orchestration processes.
- Develop data transformation and mapping logic between different systems and data formats.
- Work with JSON, XML, CSV, webhooks, and other common data‑exchange formats.
- Troubleshoot API failures, integration errors, data inconsistencies, performance issues, and connectivity problems.
- Monitor API availability, latency, throughput, error rates, and overall integration performance.
- Implement logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability for integration services.
- Collaborate with developers, solution architects, DevOps engineers, data engineers, and cybersecurity teams.
- Support cloud‑based integration solutions across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or hybrid environments.
- Participate in application modernization, cloud migration, digital transformation, and system‑integration initiatives.
- Evaluate third‑party APIs and integration capabilities for compatibility, security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Manage API versioning, lifecycle management, backward compatibility, and deprecation processes.
- Establish API governance and ensure integration solutions comply with organizational standards.
- Conduct technical reviews and provide architectural recommendations for complex integration requirements.
- Support testing activities including unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, and security testing.
- Develop automated integration tests and deployment processes where appropriate.
- Maintain integration architecture diagrams, API documentation, data mappings, and operational runbooks.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis for recurring integration problems and implement long‑term solutions.
- Continuously evaluate new integration technologies, API management platforms, and architectural patterns.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in API Integration, Integration Engineering, Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or a similar technical role.
- Strong understanding of API design, integration architecture, and distributed systems.
- Hands‑on experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and web services.
- Strong knowledge of HTTP, HTTPS, JSON, XML, OAuth, JWT, webhooks, and related integration technologies.
- Experience with API gateways and API management platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, or similar technologies is advantageous.
- Strong programming or scripting skills in Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, or another relevant language.
- Experience working with databases, SQL, data transformation, and system‑to‑system data exchange.
- Understanding of middleware, message brokers, event‑driven architecture, and asynchronous integration patterns.
- Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Amazon SQS/SNS, or similar technologies is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture and cloud‑based integration services.
- Knowledge of microservices, containerization, and distributed application architectures.
- Understanding of API security, identity management, encryption, authentication, and authorization.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause‑analysis capabilities.
- Experience with API monitoring, logging, observability, and performance optimization.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into practical technical integration solutions.
- Strong architecture documentation and technical writing skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical teams.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Experience working with enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, payment platforms, or customer‑facing applications is advantageous.
- Relevant cloud, API, architecture, or integration certifications are an advantage.
