Job summary

Private Client in Abu Dhabi is seeking an honest and reliable Animal keeper to care for exotic and domestic animals. The role focuses on daily feeding, health checks, enrichment, and safe handling in a private setting.

Applicants should have strong animal welfare passion, and prefer English and Arabic language skills. Prior experience with primates in a zoo context is highly valued and will guide the daily care routines.

Qualifications

• 5 years experience in zoo or similar pet care role.
• High School education is desirable, not mandatory.
• Proficiency in English and Arabic preferred.
• Experience caring for primates in a zoo setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide food and water to animals.
• Examine animals for illness or injury.
• Exercise animals.
• Train animals to obey or behave as required.
• Clean and disinfect cages, pens, and yards; sterilize equipment.
• Treat animals per given instructions.
• Transfer animals between cages.
• Adjust cage temperature and humidity.
• Record genealogy, diet, weight, medications, and intake.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Give food and water to animals.
• Examine animals for signs of illness or injury.
• Exercise animals.
• Train animals to obey or behave in a specific manner.
• Cleans and disinfects cages, pens, and yards and sterilizes laboratory equipment and surgical instruments.
• Examines animals for signs of illness and treat them according to instructions.
• Transfers animals between cages.
• Adjusts controls to regulate the temperature and humidity of animals' cages.
• Records information according to instructions, such as genealogy, diet, weight, medications, and food intake.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• High School, is desirable, not mandatory
• 5 years experience in Zoo or similar role in pet care.
• Good Communication in English and Arabic, desirable not mandatory
• Care and passion for animals
• Experience working in the zoo taking care of primates
